Application Deadline: 05/11/2026 Address: 100 King Street West Job Family Group: Human Resources The Senior Manager, Executive Compensation provides enterprise-level advisory support on compensation strategy, market competitiveness, and pay decisions. This role partners closely with Enterprise Talent and HR teams to advise on offers, lead the annual year-end programs, and ensure programs are competitive, well-governed, and aligned with BMO’s strategy, risk framework, and regulatory requirements. Advisory & Market Benchmarking Act as a trusted advisor to HR and senior leaders on compensation strategy, market positioning, and offer decisions. Lead participation in internal and external benchmarking processes to assess competitiveness of pay programs and inform decision-making. Provide expert guidance on employee and executive compensation matters, including program effectiveness, governance, and market trends. Identify emerging market, regulatory, and competitive trends and translate insights into clear recommendations. Program Leadership & Execution Lead the implementation, governance, and execution of annual year‑end compensation programs, ensuring accurate funding forecasts and high-quality delivery. Provide oversight of operational compensation programs, adapting execution plans as needed to ensure effectiveness and compliance. Support the development and execution of multi-year compensation strategy aligned to BMO’s broader business objectives. Manage relationships with external advisors and service providers to support benchmarking and program delivery. Analytics, Governance & Risk Define business and data requirements for compensation analytics and reporting to support data‑driven decisions. Deliver advanced analysis to support program design, offer decisions, policy reviews, and strategic initiatives. Ensure compensation programs comply with internal policies, governance standards, and applicable legislative and regulatory requirements. Support regulatory requests and reporting requirements across relevant jurisdictions. Apply BMO’s Risk Management Framework, making sound, risk‑informed decisions aligned with the bank’s risk appetite. Stakeholder Engagement & Change Leadership Influence and negotiate with stakeholders across HR, Finance, Legal, Risk, and the business to advance compensation objectives. Lead or support change initiatives, including readiness assessments, stakeholder engagement, execution, and sustainment. Develop and support clear, targeted communications for senior leadership and governance forums, including Board and committee materials. Operate as a subject matter expert and enterprise resource on executive compensation. Executive Compensation Programs and other responsibilities Contribute to development and implementation of executive compensation strategies that support organizational goals and attract, retain, and motivate top talent, including conducting research, analysis, and modelling, competitive market assessments, as appropriate and maintain awareness of trends in executive compensation. Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed. Required Qualifications and Skills: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Law, Human Resources, or Corporate Governance. A Master’s degree and/or professional certification in a relevant field are desired. Experience: 5-8 years of relevant experience, including at least 2-33 years of executive compensation experience in a similar role Knowledge: Expert knowledge of executive compensation, regulatory requirements; strong understanding of corporate governance principles, employment legislation; robust knowledge of equity compensation and plans (PSUs, RSUs, Stock Options, DSUs, etc.) Tools: Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and knowledge of data and visualization tools (e.g. Power BI, Power Query, Power Automate, etc.) Overall: Seasoned expert in the field and a technical leader; Exceptional relationship building, written and verbal communication skills; Proven ability to influence, advise, and operate credibly with senior leaders; Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to support data-driven decision making; Comfortable managing ambiguity in complex, regulated environments. Working Relationships: Reports to: Head, Executive Compensation This role will partner closely with senior leadership, Talent, HR, Finance, Legal and other partners and vendors to ensure competitive, compliant, and performance-driven executive pay practices aligned with business objectives and shareholder interests. Salary: $94,600.00 - $176,000.00 Pay Type: Salaried The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type. Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
