Overview
The Sr. Manager, Accounting is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing complex accounting operations and financial close processes within a government contracting (GovCon) environment. This position ensures accurate, compliant, and timely financial reporting while maintaining strong DCAA‑compliant cost structures, internal controls, and audit readiness. Serving as a trusted partner to finance, program, and business leaders, the Sr. Manager – Accounting leads and develops high‑performing teams, drives sound financial governance, and supports forecasting and long‑range planning in a highly regulated setting.
Responsibilities
- Independently manage month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes using Costpoint as the core enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Establish, maintain, and allocate cost pools in compliance with Government Contracting (GovCon) and DCAA requirements.
- Oversee billing, accruals, reconciliations, and journal entries across multiple complex programs.
- Lead and manage audit requests (e.g., incurred cost, project‑related audits, SOX, DCAA), including the preparation and submission of required supporting documentation.
- Perform detailed review and analysis of monthly close results to identify financial risks, issues, and required corrective actions.
- Drive financial governance, internal controls, and audit readiness within a highly regulated, DCAA‑focused environment.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of complex Microsoft Excel models and analyses, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, and financial modeling.
- Serve as a senior accounting advisor and trusted partner to Group Finance, program management, and systems teams.
- Partner with FP&A using TM1 to support forecasting, reforecasting, and long‑range financial planning activities.
- Review and approve work performed by managers and senior accountants, providing technical guidance and training, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial outputs.
- Manage a large team or multiple smaller teams typically comprised of other managers, supervisors and/or experienced professionals who exercise latitude and independence in assignments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study
- 7+ years of relevant professional experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
