The Server, Storage and Backup Administrator is responsible for installation, configuration and day‑to‑day administration of Windows and Linux servers, SAN/NAS storage, and enterprise backup solutions, ensuring availability, performance, data integrity and successful restore.

- Experience: 3–5 years in server / storage / backup administration in an enterprise environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or equivalent.
- Relevant certifications preferred: MCSE/MCSA, RHCSA/RHCE, VMware, storage or backup product certifications (NetApp, EMC, Veritas, Veeam, Commvault, etc.).
Key responsibilities
- Install, configure and administer Windows and Linux servers, including user management, patching, performance tuning and security hardening.
- Manage SAN/NAS storage systems: provisioning LUNs/volumes, allocating storage to hosts, monitoring capacity and performance, and handling upgrades/expansions.
- Implement, operate and monitor enterprise backup and recovery solutions (file, VM, database, applications) including backup policies, schedules, retention and media management.
- Perform regular restore tests, support DR drills and contribute to disaster recovery planning and documentation.
- Troubleshoot server, storage and backup incidents, perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes and improvements.
- Automate routine operational tasks (backup checks, log collection, reporting) using scripts or tools where applicable.
- Maintain accurate documentation of server builds, storage layouts, backup configurations, SOPs and changes as per ITIL processes.
- Work closely with network, database, application and security teams to ensure end‑to‑end service availability and compliance with security and data protection policies.
Skills and competencies
- Strong administration skills on Windows Server and at least one major Linux distribution (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu), including patching, services and basic troubleshooting.
- Hands‑on experience with at least one enterprise storage platform (e.g., NetApp, EMC, HPE, Dell, Hitachi) and basic SAN concepts (zoning, masking, RAID).
- Practical experience with one or more enterprise backup tools (e.g., Veritas NetBackup, Commvault, Veeam, Networker, Data Protector, etc.).
- Good understanding of backup strategies (full, incremental, differential), RPO/RTO concepts and DR best practices.
- Good knowledge of virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper‑V/KVM/Nutanix) along with backup and storage skills
- Familiarity with scripting (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) for automation and reporting will be an added advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, willingness to own issues end‑to‑end and ability to work in 24x7 or shift/on‑call environments as required
