J.D. Internship Responsibilities
J.D. interns perform a variety of tasks depending on what practice areas they are interested in as well as the type of cases our firm is handling. These tasks include but are not limited to:
- Researching and writing memoranda
- Manage case files
- Perform administrative duties such as filing
- Assist with preparation for trials, hearings, and depositions
- Attend client meetings
- Assist clients with their legal matters
- Attend trials, hearings, and depositions
- Research legislative histories
- Write legal articles or booklets on specific legal topics
As a small boutique law firm, J.D. interns at Antonoplos & Associates do more than just observe our attorneys. Instead, we offer many opportunities for our J.D. interns to actually practice the law, whether they choose to do an internship during the summer or for academic credit during the fall or spring semester. Further, as our J.D. interns are immediately immersed in our legal practice, both our firm and interns can get a feel for each other and see if the partnership is one that may transition to long-term employment. Over the last few years, we have hired multiple students who have interned with us after they have graduated and passed the bar exam.
Undergraduate Internship Responsibilities
As an undergraduate legal intern, you will be able to assist our attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff. The most common tasks our undergraduate interns work on include but are not limited to:
- Perform complicated legal work under the supervision of an attorney
- Draft documents
- Perform legal research
- Prepare and organize files and binders
- Sit in on client meetings
- Answer phone calls
- Write promotional materials
- Write blog posts on legal topics
- Take important documents to the local courthouse
- Research legal issues for attorneys and paralegals
