Professor – Biotechnology

Position Summary

Amity University Kolkata invites applications from accomplished academicians and researchers for the position of Professor in Biotechnology. The successful candidate will provide academic leadership in teaching, research, curriculum development, student mentoring, and institutional development while contributing to the University's research and innovation ecosystem. Faculty are expected to maintain a strong publication record, secure research funding, and collaborate with industry and national/international research organizations.

Key Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral courses in Biotechnology and allied disciplines.
Develop and revise curriculum in line with NEP, UGC, and industry requirements.
Supervise Ph.D., M.Tech., M.Sc., and undergraduate research projects.
Establish and lead funded research projects from agencies such as DBT, DST, ICMR, CSIR, SERB, and international funding organizations.
Publish high-quality research in SCI/Scopus-indexed journals.
Build collaborations with industry, research institutes, and international universities.
Guide faculty members and research scholars.
Develop new laboratories and research facilities.
Organize conferences, workshops, FDPs, seminars, and outreach activities.
Participate in accreditation (NAAC/NBA), rankings, and quality assurance initiatives.
Undertake academic administration, departmental planning, admissions, examination, and student mentoring.
Promote innovation, entrepreneurship, patents, technology transfer, and consultancy activities.

Essential Qualifications

Ph.D. in Biotechnology or a closely related Life Science discipline.
First Class or equivalent at Bachelor's and Master's levels.
Qualification and experience as per UGC/AICTE/University norms.
Significant teaching, research, and academic leadership experience.

Experience

Minimum 18 years of teaching/research experience after Ph.D.
Experience guiding Ph.D. scholars.
Demonstrated success in obtaining external research funding.
Strong publication record in peer-reviewed SCI/Scopus journals.
Patent filings, technology commercialization, and industry collaborations will be an added advantage.
