Your Opportunity:

Cancer Care Alberta is currently looking for a Nurse Clinician (NC) to join their dynamic team at the new Arthur Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre (AC). The NC is a regulated member of the health care team who in a leadership role will utilize the nursing process, critical thinking, and advanced problem and decision-making skills to optimize care for the Hematology/Oncology/Blood and Marrow Transplant patient population. The NC leads, mentors, and educates a multi-disciplinary staff while enhancing health through the interpretation, dissemination, and implementation of evidence-based practices and processes. The successful NC will bring proven interpersonal communication skills as they frequently collaborate with management, CNEs, RNs, and other multidisciplinary team members to deliver clinical leadership and oversight of care as well as coordinate patient flow as the Charge Nurse. The NC also participates with the team leadership by mentoring and empowering all staff. This includes skills checklists, orientation, education and training, and the continual identification of learning opportunities. The NC is integral in the dissemination of new, revised or updated clinical information and educational learnings both informally, formally, or through Procedural Change Notices. By working together using the Quality Improvement model that enhances patient care processes and outcomes, the NC proactively identifies and implements necessary change strategies to enhance safety and risk management, efficiency and satisfaction, and utility and effectiveness. Description

As a Nurse Clinician (NC), you will be responsible for the coordination of an interprofessional team, in the provision of quality patient (client, resident) care in order to meet the operational priorities and requirements within a clinical setting. You will use an integrative leadership approach in assisting, planning, implementing and evaluating care needs, while assuming responsibility for staff assignments, patient flow and clinical resources. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in nursing or equivalent. Chemotherapy experience and/or certification. Experience with infusion of Cellular Therapy Products (including, but not limited to Stem Cells, CAR-T cells, and Blood and Bone Marrow infusions). Central Venous Access Device (CVAD) Certification. Minimum of 2 years of experience in Hematology, Oncology, and Blood and Marrow Transplant in the last 5 years.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of and/or experience with adult learning and teaching principles. Professional leadership experience (project, team lead, subject matter expertise). Experience with change management processes and strategies. Demonstrated clinical experience with critical thinking and problem-solving techniques.
