Job Description
Dual-Role: Patient Care Coordinator & Massage Therapist
McLean, VA & Falls Church, VA | Clinical Setting | Part-Time or Full-Time
Competitive Pay | Flexible Growth Path | Benefits Eligible (Full-Time)
At Advanced Kinetics Physical Therapy (AKPT), we’re building something a little different. We’re looking for a motivated, people-first professional who wants to blend front desk excellence with hands-on massage therapy care—all within a collaborative, sports-minded clinical team.
This dual-role position is designed to flex with you. You’ll start with more Patient Care Coordinator hours as you settle in and build your massage clientele, with a clear path to shift that balance over time based on your goals and client growth.
THE ROLE
You’ll wear two hats—and we’ll support you in both:
As a Patient Care Coordinator, you will:
● Serve as the operational and relational hub of the AKPT patient experience
● Welcome and check in patients with warmth and professionalism
● Manage scheduling, rescheduling, cancellations, and waitlists
● Verify insurance benefits and communicate coverage clearly to patients
● Collect co-pays, co-insurance, and outstanding balances
● Answer phones promptly and handle patient inquiries with care
● Maintain accurate patient records in Jane App (our EMR)
● Process referrals, prior authorizations, and coordination of benefits
● Support team communication and participate in monthly meetings
As a Massage Therapist, you will:
● Provide 30-minute, 60-minute, and 90-minute massage sessions by appointment
● Take thorough client histories and customize each session to individual needs
● Collaborate daily with Physical Therapists and performance professionals
● Educate clients on massage therapy and encourage follow-up care
● Help grow your client base through in-clinic interaction and marketing
● Work with motivated, rehab-focused clients—not passive spa clients
YOUR GROWTH PATH
This position is built to flex with your career. Here’s how it works:
● Starting out: Most hours will be in the PCC role as you build your massage clientele
● As you grow: You can shift toward a 50/50 split between PCC and Massage Therapy
● Long-term: If you build a strong massage client base, you can move toward primarily MT hours
The mix is up to you—we’ll support whatever direction serves your goals and our patients best.
SCHEDULE & BENEFITS
● Part-Time: Flexible hours across one or both roles (not benefits eligible)
● Full-Time: 40 hours/week combined across both roles (benefits eligible)
● Flexible scheduling with a supportive, tight-knit team
● Marketing support to grow your massage practice
● Snacks + monthly company meetings
● A growth-oriented culture where your work genuinely matters
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
You’re a people person with a clinical mindset. You care about helping patients feel better, you’re comfortable talking about services and scheduling follow-up care, and you bring an entrepreneurial spirit to everything you do.
You’ll thrive here if you:
● Love working at the intersection of patient care and hands-on therapy
● Enjoy building relationships and supporting people through their recovery journey
● Are comfortable with the business side of a service-based role—scheduling, follow-up, and growth
● Take initiative and ownership of your work
● Are a collaborative team player in a fast-paced clinical environment
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
● Current Virginia Massage Therapy License
● 525+ hours of massage therapy education completed
● Liability Insurance (employer-paid for full-time employees)
● CPR Certification (employer-paid for full-time employees)
● Strong written and verbal communication skills
● Friendly, compassionate, and professional demeanor
● High school diploma (associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred)
Preferred (not required):
● 1–2 years of massage therapy experience (new graduates welcome!)
● 1–3 years of customer service or front desk experience
● Experience with EMR/practice management software (Jane App a plus)
● Working knowledge of health insurance and benefits verification
● Modalities: Deep Tissue, Swedish, Myofascial Release, Trigger Point, Lymphatic Drainage
● Background in kinesiology, exercise science, or pre-PT
