The ideal candidate is naturally curious, highly organized, and skilled at uncovering compelling stories, developing creative angles, building relationships, and turning opportunities into results.
This is a hands-on, client-facing role within one of New England’s leading integrated marketing agencies. We’re looking for someone who can think strategically, move quickly, and confidently represent both our agency and our clients.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING. In this hands-on role, you’ll be part of a fast-paced, Effie award-winning PR team within one of the region’s largest integrated marketing agencies. You’ll be:
- Pitching stories and securing media coverage. You’ll identify compelling stories, develop strategic media angles, and proactively pitch reporters, editors, producers, freelancers, bloggers, content creators, and influencers across local, regional, national, trade, and consumer media outlets.
- Responding to media opportunities and inquiries. You’ll manage incoming requests from journalists, producers, freelance writers, and influencers, coordinating resources quickly and efficiently to meet deadlines and maximize coverage opportunities.
- Building and maintaining media relationships. You’ll develop strong relationships with members of the media and become a trusted resource for story ideas, expert sources, interviews, and information.
- Coordinating media visits and press trips. You’ll help plan and execute individual media visits, influencer experiences, and multi-day press trips, working closely with clients, partners, attractions, hotels, restaurants, and venues to ensure successful experiences and coverage outcomes.
- Researching opportunities and identifying trends. You’ll monitor the news cycle, editorial calendars, industry developments, and cultural trends to identify opportunities that align with client priorities and generate meaningful media attention.
- Developing earned media strategies. Working collaboratively with specialists across the agency, you’ll help create integrated communications strategies that support broader marketing objectives.
- Supporting events and activations. You’ll help plan and execute press conferences, media events, launches, creator activations, and other public-facing initiatives, coordinating logistics, and provide on-site support.
- Writing compelling communications materials. You’ll help support drafting press releases, media advisories, talking points, fact sheets, pitch letters, executive messaging, articles, award submissions, and other communications materials.
- Managing reporting and performance measurement. You’ll leverage media intelligence and monitoring platforms to track results, analyze performance, identify trends, and provide meaningful reporting and recommendations to clients.
- Managing multiple projects and priorities. You’ll help coordinate timelines, track deliverables, and manage multiple client initiatives simultaneously.
WHY YOU? The ideal candidate will bring to the party
- A minumum of 3+ years of PR or related communications/journalism experience
- Proven success securing earned media coverage across print, broadcast, digital, podcast, and influencer channels
- Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional pitching skills and confidence reaching out to media and partners by phone, email, and social platforms
- Experience serving in a client-facing role and managing multiple relationships
- Experience coordinating media visits, press trips, influencer programs, and special events
- Experience using media intelligence and reporting platforms such as Cision, Meltwater, and similar tools
- Outstanding organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple clients, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously
- Understanding of how earned media, social media, paid media, content marketing, influencer marketing, and creator partnerships work together to drive results
- A collaborative mindset coupled with the ability to work independently and take initiative
- Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and respond quickly to media opportunities and client requests.
- Current media relationships in travel, tourism, lifestyle, food and beverage, education, healthcare, and financial services are highly desirable.
- Knowledge of CT and New England destinations, tourism trends, attractions, and lifestyle experiences a huge plus.
