Social Media Videographer (Summer Internship)

Duration: 10-12 weeks, 30 hours per week

Start date: June 2026.

Compensation: $22-$24/hr

We turn young people into community leaders in various ways. Our primary program offering turns youth from 'educated' to 'educator.' For example, imagine a 16 year old teaching a 50 year old how to use Zoom to communicate with their family in another country, or a 14 year old teaching an adult who is new to Canada some basic English skills, or a 12 year old teaching an adult how to play the piano.

Our core summer leadership programs go beyond our core program and engage youth in a) youth developing and delivering small community projects of their choosing to help improve their community (such as a weekly arts program for kids in their local park, a community basketball tournament, or a community clean-up day), or b) youth taking on a teaching assistant role where they support kids with reading, math and other skills.

The Role: Social Media Videographer (Internship)

We are looking for a dynamic videographer who has a passion for telling stories. This position will involve filming various programs in different parts of the city, as well as filming interviews and programs in a singular location in downtown Toronto.

This position is perfect for a film, media or marketing student who is passionate about storytelling and who is interested in supporting youth development and education initiatives.

This role is primarily based in downtown Toronto and occasionally requires travel to other parts of the city. Public transit costs will be provided when required to travel outside of our primary location.

Duties include, but are not limited to,

• Capture both candid and scripted moments
• Create / edit short-form video content for social media (e.g. 30-60 second videos for Instagram) and longer-form content (e.g. 5-10 minute impact videos on Facebook).
• Working with our team to develop a clear vision and direction for content
• Maintain ongoing communication with our team to capture footage of key moments
• Manage and maintain all equipment
• Organize a structured filming schedule and storing system of video footage
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications / Job Requirements

• An ideas person who is able to work both independently and in a team
• Able to create a variety of content that fits into a larger story arc and brand
• Has personal experience and/or is aware of challenges marginalized communities face
• Able to summarize large amounts of information into simple messaging (without “watering” down content, allowing it to remain impactful and powerful)
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse groups of individuals, particularly with young people ages 12-16
• Familiarity with operating a digital camera or an iPhone/smartphone, and have some basic knowledge on using lavalier microphones. Equipment will be provided.
• Ability to use video editing software
• Ability to accept and integrate constructive feedback
• Flexible and resilient, with a "get-it-done" attitude
• A good sense of humor
