& Field Agronomist / Plant Production Specialist

Overview

Responsibilities

• Design and implement experimental protocols for plant growth, breeding, and genetic research within greenhouse and field settings.
• Conduct data collection, analysis, and interpretation using statistical tools such as R and machine learning techniques to inform research outcomes.
• Manage greenhouse operations including climate control, pest management, watering schedules, and nutrient delivery systems to ensure optimal plant health.
• Collaborate on research & development projects focused on crop improvement, biochemistry, microbiology, and molecular biology applications.
• Utilize GIS (Geographic Information Systems) tools for spatial analysis of field trials and precision agriculture initiatives.
• Oversee laboratory experiments related to genetics, biochemistry, microbiology, and horticulture to support ongoing research efforts.
• Maintain detailed records of experiments, data logs, and research findings; prepare reports for internal review and publication purposes.
• Support the development of innovative solutions through experimental design that enhances sustainability and productivity in agriculture.

Skills

• Proven experience in scientific research within agriculture or plant sciences with a focus on horticulture or genetics.
• Strong data analysis skills using R programming language; familiarity with machine learning algorithms is a plus.
• Laboratory experience in biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology or related fields; ability to perform precise laboratory techniques.
• Hands-on greenhouse experience including climate control systems, pest management strategies, and plant care protocols.
• Knowledge of GIS applications for field data collection and spatial analysis in agricultural contexts.
• Expertise in experimental design principles aimed at optimizing crop performance under varying conditions.
• Excellent analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets for research insights.
