Job description

Company Description

Workleap is a Montreal-based tech company, founded in 2006. We're builders at heart, we make simple products that actually matter to the people who use them. We have two product lines: The Workleap Agent, our agentic HR platform that helps managers become better leaders, and ShareGate, the world's leading solution for Microsoft 365 migration and governance. More than 15,000 companies worldwide trust us to do exactly that. We're intentional about who joins us. If you're the kind of person who gets excited by a hard problem and wants to help shape what comes next, there's a place for you here.

Your role

You'll help build a brand-new product from the ground up: a greenfield, backend-heavy system where you'll design both the cloud services and the agent software that runs directly on customer machines. The product handles device migration at ShareGate, but you don't need to know that domain going in, we'll get you up to speed. What matters is that you like owning real backend problems and laying solid foundations while a lot is still being defined.

Your impact:

  • Build the agent that migrates devices between tenants, so customers get a reliable, friction-free transition on their workstations.
  • Ship the APIs and Azure cloud services that connect the agent to the ShareGate platform, securely and at scale.
  • Lay the technical foundations of a greenfield product, taking part in the architecture decisions that will hold up long term.
  • Move between the two areas as team priorities shift, delivering where the impact is greatest.
  • Bring AI tools (Claude, Claude Code) into your daily development work to speed up delivery and raise code quality.

Your team

We're standing up a brand-new team. The next 6 to 12 months: lay the technical foundations, ship a secure MVP to a small set of partner customers, then iterate fast toward general availability. The ambition is to make it a core pillar of ShareGate's offering.

The work spans the software that runs on devices and the cloud-side services. You'll start on one side, with room to move to the other as priorities shift. You'll work alongside a staff developer, a senior developer, and a Developer I, with a product manager and designer already in place. We live in Slack, make decisions fast, and course-correct even faster. You'll report to a software development manager focused on supporting your growth.

On the tech side: a backend in .NET (C#), cloud services on Azure, and the agent that runs on devices. All backed by solid tooling, automated CI/CD pipelines, and strong engineering standards.

What you'll bring

  • 3 to 5 years of software development experience, with solid command of C#/.NET on the backend;
  • Experience with Azure and CI/CD pipelines;
  • Experience designing and consuming APIs;
  • Solid expertise in automated testing (unit and broader tests);
  • A builder mindset: autonomy and the drive to lay foundations, even when things aren't fully defined yet;
  • Comfort with AI tools (Claude, Claude Code) to speed up your work;
  • Strong communication, curiosity, and a collaborative approach;
  • Bonus: experience building agents, background services, or daemons that run on devices or servers;
  • Bonus: React experience, for a bit of frontend;
  • Bonus: knowledge of identity systems or the Microsoft ecosystem (Active Directory, Entra ID, Graph SDK, MSAL).

Most of this sounds like you? Apply.

What the job comes with

  • Base salary: $100,000 to $130,000. This range reflects our Canada-wide compensation scale. Final offers may be adjusted based on the candidate's region to align with local market conditions.
  • Annual bonus program.
  • LTIP program, share in Workleap's long-term growth.
  • RRSP + Family health insurance + telemedicine + annual wellness budget.
  • Flexible vacation policy.
  • Remote work, with access to our Montreal office.
  • In-person gathering twice a year.
  • Claude access, for everyone.

What drives us

At Workleap, we build software that sits at the center of how people experience work, every day, at every level.

We move fast. Priorities shift, decisions get made with the information we have, and we iterate. If you thrive on intensity and ambiguity doesn't slow you down, you'll feel right at home.
We're builders. We do what it takes to move forward. AI is part of our toolkit. We use it to go faster and decide smarter, not to replace judgment.

If you want real impact and a place where your decisions matter, this is it.

How we hire

Transparency is how we hire — for you as much as for us.

Here's how it works: a first call with a recruiter, then a virtual interview with the hiring manager. You'll then complete a take-home case study, followed by a meet with future colleagues to discuss it together. Depending on the role, the process may vary slightly — your recruiter will walk you through it on your first call.

We use AI to support certain steps of the process, but every hiring decision remains human.

We can't wait to meet you.

By applying, you confirm that you have read and agree to our privacy policy.
