Food Production Cost Accountant

Key Responsibilities:
- Navigate the complex financial regulations specific to the USDA-certified food production industry.
- Design and manage precise cost accounting systems to effectively track and report production costs.
- Collaborate closely with our ERP Specialist to customize the ERP system for enhanced financial reporting and analysis.
- Ensure data integrity in the ERP system, focusing on product costing and inventory management.
- Work with the Finance and Accounting teams to develop and implement effective cost control strategies.
- Perform regular audits and reconcile financial data with production and procurement documentation.
- Create comprehensive financial reports, including variance analysis, cost-benefit assessments, and profitability evaluations.
- Utilize financial data to discover trends and identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
- Engage with department heads to formulate impactful cost-saving strategies and process improvements.
- Interact with both internal and external auditors to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare and submit all essential financial reports to regulatory authorities.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, USDA, and other relevant regulatory standards.
- Establish strong working relationships with Store Support and Operational teams.
- Contribute positively to a collaborative work culture built on teamwork and respect.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in cost accounting or financial analysis within a manufacturing setting, preferably in the food industry.

- Familiarity with USDA regulations applicable to food plants is preferred.
- Understanding of financial compliance and reporting requirements for various regulatory agencies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and willing to learn new software tools.
