Job Description

Our client, a leading telecommunications provider, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Network Operations Engineer to join their mission-critical team. This role offers the flexibility of a fully remote work arrangement, allowing you to contribute from anywhere in the US. You will be responsible for maintaining the stability, performance, and security of our client's extensive network infrastructure. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of networking protocols, hardware, and troubleshooting methodologies, coupled with a proven ability to manage complex network environments and respond effectively to incidents. Key responsibilities include monitoring network performance, identifying and resolving network issues proactively, implementing network changes and upgrades, and ensuring network resilience. You will work with various routing and switching platforms, firewalls, load balancers, and network management tools. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex network problems efficiently. You will also play a key role in capacity planning, network security implementation, and the development of operational best practices. We are looking for a candidate who can collaborate effectively with internal teams and external vendors, and who is committed to continuous improvement and staying abreast of the latest networking technologies. Experience with scripting for automation (e.g., Python, Bash) is highly desirable. If you are a seasoned network professional looking for a challenging remote role, this is an excellent opportunity. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of experience in network operations and engineering. Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and other routing protocols. Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, or other major network hardware vendors. Proficiency in network monitoring and troubleshooting tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark, Nagios). Experience with network security principles, firewalls, and VPNs. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and collaboration skills for a remote team environment. Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or JNCIS are highly valued. Experience with network automation and scripting is a significant advantage. This vital position is based out of Baltimore, Maryland, US , but offers a fully remote work structure.
