Job Description

Our client, a leading aerospace manufacturer and defense contractor, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Aerospace Systems Engineer to join their innovative team. This critical role, based in Washington, D.C., US , will focus on the design, integration, and testing of complex aerospace systems. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of aerospace engineering principles, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and a proven track record in delivering sophisticated aerospace projects.

Responsibilities

Lead the definition and architecture of complex aerospace systems throughout their lifecycle. Develop system requirements, specifications, and interface control documents (ICDs). Perform system modeling, simulation, and analysis to ensure performance and reliability. Oversee the integration of subsystems and ensure seamless interoperability. Develop and execute system-level test plans and procedures. Analyze test data and identify root causes of system failures or performance issues. Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams (e.g., mechanical, electrical, software) to achieve program objectives. Manage system trades studies and technical decision-making processes. Ensure compliance with aerospace standards, regulations, and best practices. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance. Contribute to proposal development and technical sales efforts. Identify and mitigate technical risks associated with system development and operation. Prepare and present technical documentation and reviews to stakeholders and customers. Stay abreast of emerging aerospace technologies and industry advancements. Support system upgrades, modifications, and sustainment activities.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 8 years of experience in aerospace systems engineering. Proven experience in requirements management, system architecture design, and integration. Proficiency with systems engineering tools and methodologies (e.g., DOORS, Cameo, SysML). Strong understanding of control systems, aerodynamics, propulsion, and avionics. Experience with simulation and modeling tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink). Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Exceptional communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing collaboration and independent work. Experience with DoD or NASA programs is highly desirable. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance if required. Demonstrated ability to manage technical risks and make informed decisions.
