Job Description

As a Category Manager for our client, a major player in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector, your role will be pivotal in driving category growth, profitability, and market share through effective product assortment, pricing, and promotional strategies. You will need to balance remote strategic planning with on-site collaboration and market engagement. Your responsibilities will include understanding consumer trends, managing supplier relationships, and developing winning category plans.

  • Develop and execute comprehensive category strategies to maximize sales, profitability, and market share.
  • Analyze market trends, consumer insights, and competitor activities to identify opportunities and threats.
  • Manage product assortment, including product selection, introductions, and rationalization.
  • Develop and implement pricing and promotional strategies to drive sales volume and margin.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating favorable terms and conditions.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute effective brand and promotional campaigns.
  • Work closely with the sales team to ensure effective in-store execution and merchandising.
  • Monitor category performance, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and provide regular reports and insights.
  • Manage inventory levels to optimize stock availability and minimize waste.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Present category plans and performance reviews to senior management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Management, or a related field. Master's degree or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in category management, brand management, or a similar role within the FMCG industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and growing product categories.
  • Strong understanding of consumer behavior, market dynamics, and retail operations.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management capabilities.
  • Effective communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a hybrid work environment.
