Pay: $100,000 - $125,000, based on qualifications and experience
Physical Setting/work location: Onsite, Grand Forks, ND.
Vorbeck is seeking a Director of Quality Control & Quality Assurance to lead quality operations across our manufacturing and testing environments. This role is responsible for maintaining and continuously improving established quality systems, overseeing product testing and inspection activities, supporting compliance initiatives, and partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent product quality and operational excellence.
- Quality Systems Management: Maintain, refine, and continuously improve quality management systems, procedures, and documentation to ensure product consistency, process reliability, and compliance with internal and external standards.
- Quality Control & Testing: Oversee product testing and inspection activities to ensure materials meet established specifications and performance requirements. Analyze testing data, identify trends, investigate quality issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensure compliance with company quality standards, customer requirements, regulatory requirements, and applicable industry standards. Lead and support internal audits, quality reviews, documentation control activities, and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain product quality and operational excellence.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor laboratory technicians and quality personnel, providing training, guidance, and performance feedback to promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Production, R&D, Engineering, and Operations teams to address quality concerns, support process improvements, and ensure successful implementation of product and process changes.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives to improve product quality, testing efficiency, manufacturing consistency, and overall operational performance through data analysis, root cause investigations, and corrective action implementation.
- Risk Management, Safety & Compliance: Promote a strong safety culture by identifying potential hazards, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring quality activities are performed in accordance with environmental, health, safety, and operational requirements.
- Other Responsibilities: Support additional projects and initiatives as assigned.
- Travel (expected): 10%
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related technical field required. Master's degree or Ph.D. preferred.
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in quality assurance, quality control, or manufacturing quality within a technical or manufacturing environment.
- 2+ years of leadership experience managing quality personnel, laboratory staff, or cross- functional quality initiatives.
- Experience working within chemical manufacturing, materials manufacturing, specialty chemicals, coatings, industrial products, or related technical industries preferred.
- Experience developing, implementing, maintaining, and improving quality systems, procedures, and documentation.
- Experience leading root cause investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience analyzing quality data and utilizing results to drive process and product improvements.
- Proven success collaborating with Production, Engineering, Operations, and R&D teams to resolve quality issues and improve manufacturing performance.
- Experience supporting audits, compliance activities, and quality documentation management preferred.

results. - Skilled in technical documentation, including quality procedures, specifications, test methods,
and quality reports. - Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple
priorities in a fast-paced environment. - Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively
across departments. - Knowledge of applicable quality, safety, and environmental standards and regulations.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, bend, kneel, and climb stairs/ladders regularly.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds regularly as part of daily responsibilities.
