Job Description
As a Financial Controller, you will play a crucial role in overseeing all financial aspects of reporting, controls, budgeting, cashflow, taxation, and compliance across multiple farm and urban sites. Your responsibilities will be both strategic and hands-on, leading finance operations for a rapidly scaling agricultural venture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day and monthly finance operations, including accounting, reporting, payables/receivables, and internal controls across farm and distribution locations.
- Prepare and review financial statements, budgets, cashflow analyses, and variance reports; present regular MIS to leadership and the board.
- Build and manage effective budgeting, forecasting, and cost control systems for both production and trading divisions, supporting expansion and operational efficiency.
- Lead statutory audit, direct/indirect taxation, compliance (GST, labor, safety regulations), and ensure timely filings with regulators.
- Monitor capex, inventory management, and working capital to support scale-up plans and multisite operations.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and systems, including automation, ERP/workforce analytics implementation, and digital reporting.
- Liaise with external auditors, bankers, investors, legal, and internal business heads on funding, reporting, and regulatory matters.
- Mentor and direct a small, diverse finance team with a focus on DEI and capability-building in a women-majority environment.
Requirements
- Chartered Accountant (CA)/CPA or MBA (Finance), with 8-15 years controllership or senior finance experience in agritech, food, manufacturing, FMCG, or a scaling startup environment.
- Demonstrated ability in farm operations finance, supply-chain accounting, cost control, and multisite budget management preferred.
- Proficient in financial systems, automation, and reporting including ERP/SAP and digital analytics.
- Hands-on leadership style, able to work across on-ground operations and urban offices; strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with statutory audits, direct/indirect taxation, lender/investor reporting, and internal controls in growth-stage companies.
