Veeva Systems is a mission-driven organization and pioneer in industry cloud, helping life sciences companies bring therapies to patients faster. As one of the fastest-growing SaaS companies in history, we surpassed $3B in revenue in our last fiscal year with extensive growth potential ahead.
At the heart of Veeva are our values: Do the Right Thing, Customer Success, Employee Success, and Speed. We're not just any public company – we made history in 2021 by becoming a public benefit corporation (PBC), legally bound to balancing the interests of customers, employees, society, and investors.
As a Work Anywhere company, we support your flexibility to work from home or in the office, so you can thrive in your ideal environment.
Join us in transforming the life sciences industry, committed to making a positive impact on its customers, employees, and communities.
The Role
We are seeking an entrepreneurial, highly technical, and driven Lead QA Engineer to join our Services Tooling team. As part of an engineering team embedded within our Services business, you will help build and scale the internal platforms that power our global implementation consultants, including complex configuration and data migration tools. As the founding QA engineer, you will define and build the QA strategy from scratch. You will develop automation frameworks to ensure GxP-compliant test evidence and traceability, while selecting tools, designing architecture, and setting quality standards. You will also lead innovation in AI-driven testing. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in high-ownership environments and enjoys solving complex data, cloud, and architectural challenges.
What You’ll Do
- Build from Scratch: Architect, design, and implement scalable test automation frameworks for both UI and API layers of our internal Spring Boot platforms.
- Innovate with AI: Spearhead our next-generation testing efforts by researching, designing, and creating AI testing agents to augment our automation (e.g., intelligent test generation, identifying edge cases, or self-healing pipelines).
- Solve Complex Problems: Act as the sole QA authority on the engineering team. When you hit a roadblock, you will be expected to research, prototype, and implement the solution independently.
- Automate Everything: Read and analyze complex system requirements to architect and automate comprehensive regression, integration, and end-to-end (E2E) test suites.
- Enable Compliance: Partner with our validation compliance members. You will ensure your automation framework generates the exact traceability, logs, and test evidence she needs to support GxP compliance and Validation Summary Reports.
- Automate the Pipeline: Integrate your test suites into our CI/CD pipelines (Git, Jenkins/GitHub Actions) to ensure immediate feedback on every build.
- Collaborate Globally: Work closely with developers, business stakeholders, and compliance teams across time zones to understand complex technical requirements and edge cases.
Requirements
- 7+ years of hands-on experience building test automation frameworks from the ground up; not inheriting or maintaining existing ones.
- Founding QA mindset is a must. You'll operate without a playbook, navigating ambiguous and uncharted technical territory. We need someone with the grit, resourcefulness, and raw problem-solving ability to figure things out independently and move fast.
- Proven ability to translate complex business and technical requirements into comprehensive automated test suites, including spanning integration, E2E, regression, and edge cases that others wouldn't think to test.
- Deep expertise in enterprise backend testing, including BDD with Gherkin/Cucumber against Java/Spring Boot applications, paired with strong command of modern UI automation tooling such as Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.
- Strong API testing chops and experience handling large-scale datasets to assess with stress testing.
Nice to Have
- Passion for or foundational experience with AI/ML, LLMs, or designing AI-driven testing agents.
- Knowledge of GxP compliance, Computer Systems Validation (CSV), or experience testing software in highly regulated industries (Life Sciences, Pharma, Finance). If you don't have this, you must simply have a strong willingness to collaborate with our compliance team to learn the requirements!

Work Where It’s Best for You
Work Anywhere means you can work in an office or at home on any given day. It’s about getting the work done in the way and place that works best for each person. This applies across all locations and departments.
Work Anywhere does not mean work at any time. We have predictable core hours where employees are generally available for meetings and collaboration. Employees are focused and available during core hours.
We invest in our offices to make them places where our employees like to go. If you work in the office three or more days a week, you will have a dedicated office workspace. Our offices function as hubs to draw people in, create social bonds, and where random connections and mixing of ideas happen. We’re investing more in offices, culture, and offsite meetings, not less.
Product teams are organized in regional product hubs for optimal collaboration and live within a time zone of their hub. Our current product hubs are located in Pleasanton, Columbus, Boston, Kansas City, New York City, Raleigh, and Toronto. We create opportunities for teams to get together in person regularly.
Customer-facing roles, such as Sales and Professional Services, live near and/or travel to their customers.
When an employee moves within a country it does not cause a change in salary. Where you live impacts you and your family. Not knowing if your compensation will change if you move can cause stress and uncertainty for everyone. We wanted to eliminate that.
Work at Veeva. Work where it’s best for you.
