Ocean Export Specialist

Our client is an established international freight forwarding company with a global network of offices across multiple continents, serving a wide range of industries. To support the growth of their U.S. operations, we are seeking an experienced Ocean Export Specialist to join their team in New Jersey.

This is an on-site position based in the Jersey City/Newark area, working within a collaborative export team.

Position Overview

The Ocean Export Specialist will be responsible for managing export bookings and documentation, ensuring smooth coordination with carriers and trucking companies, and supporting day-to-day export operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, hands-on, and experienced in handling ocean export shipments.

Your Tasks

Reporting to the Export Manager, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Manage export bookings and related documentation
• Coordinate with steamship lines (SSL) and trucking companies
• Ensure accuracy and compliance of export documentation
• Handle shipment tracking and follow-ups
• Work within the CargoWise system for operational activities
• Collaborate with a team of 5 export professionals
• Maintain strong communication with internal teams and external partners

Skills and Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in ocean export operations
• Strong knowledge of export processes and documentation
• Experience working with CargoWise is required
• Familiarity with steamship lines and trucking coordination
• Must be currently based in or near the Jersey City/Newark area
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Compensation and Notes:

• Salary range: $70,000 – $75,000 (depending on experience)
• Full-time position
• On-site role (no remote work)
