Job Description

The Senior Business Analyst will support the design and delivery of the company’s next generation KPI framework and enterprise analytics environment. Working closely with the Vice President of Business Intelligence and cross-functional leaders, this role helps translate business questions into governed metrics, reusable datasets, and executive-ready Power BI dashboards.
Success in this role means reliable and consistent KPIs, well-structured Power BI semantic models, and analytics products that support decision-making across multiple departments. The role requires strong collaboration with business leaders, analysts, and technical teams to refine requirements and continuously improve reporting and analytics capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with BI leadership and business stakeholders to define and refine KPI definitions, metric logic, and reporting requirements.
- Design and maintain Power BI semantic models and datasets, including star schema modeling, DAX measures, and Power Query transformations.
- Build and enhance Power BI dashboards and reports used by leadership to monitor business performance.
- Source and validate data from MS SQL Server, Cognos, Centage, and other systems or APIs.
- Write and optimize SQL queries for data validation, transformation, and investigation of anomalies.
- Document business rules, metric definitions, and data lineage within a shared KPI dictionary.
- Partner with leaders across Finance, Operations, Marketing, and other departments to ensure analytics solutions reflect business needs.
- Support data governance practices including dataset reuse, row level security, naming conventions, and release management.
- Collaborate with other analysts and IT to prepare clean, reliable datasets and support advanced analysis, automation, and future machine learning use cases.
- Present findings and insights to stakeholders in clear business terms.
Required Skills
- Advanced Power BI development, including: Star schema data modeling, DAX measure development, Power Query M transformations, Semantic model design, Performance optimization, Row level security
- Strong SQL skills including joins, window functions, and data validation across large datasets.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams.
- Ability to collaborate with stakeholders to translate ambiguous business questions into structured analysis and reporting solutions.
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
- Advanced Excel for analysis and data validation.
- Experience working in collaborative analytics environments with multiple stakeholders.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Python for data exploration, automation, or supporting machine learning workflows.
- Exposure to machine learning concepts or supporting predictive modeling initiatives.
- Experience preparing datasets used for statistical modeling or advanced analytics.
- Experience working with legacy BI tools such as SSRS or Cognos.
- Experience in multi-unit services, retail, hospitality, or fitness environments.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, or data analysis roles.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Power BI data modeling and development.
- Experience working with multiple enterprise data sources and business domains.
