Pay Rate: 45-65/hour, depending on experience
Contract for 6 months; temp to hire.
Requires being on site 3x a week.

As a Copywriter Il, you will craft high-quality messaging that supports the GEICO brand in powerful and effective ways. You will contribute directly to a range of projects, owning smaller assignments independently while supporting larger initiatives and helping ensure the work is thoughtful, consistent, and aligned to the needs of the brand.
This is a contract-to-hire position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Write clear, compelling, and on-brand copy across a range of marketing and business needs, with a strong focus on display ads, email, and direct mail.
- Contribute to creative projects by developing copy that is strategically grounded, aligned to the brief, and tailored to the needs of the channel and audience.
- Own smaller writing assignments from kickoff through final delivery, while contributing to portions of larger campaigns and initiatives with appropriate guidance.
- Partner closely with designers and other creative partners to help bring concepts to life through strong, cohesive messaging.
- Adapt messaging across formats and placements, ensuring copy remains effective, consistent, and appropriate to the medium.
- Help maintain GEICO's brand voice across projects and contribute to the ongoing evolution of that voice through thoughtful writing and application.
- Review, proofread, and refine copy to ensure accuracy, clarity, quality, and alignment with brand and business expectations.
- Partner with marketing and internal clients to understand project goals, clarify feedback, and support the development of effective creative solutions
- Apply feedback thoughtfully and revise copy as needed, balancing attention to detail with speed and responsiveness.
- Support efficient creative development by staying organized, managing assigned work responsibly, and helping work move smoothly through the process.
- Explore new tools, technologies, and emerging creative tech – in addition to the adoption of AI - that can improve creative output, streamline processes, and support team effectiveness.
REQUIREMENTS
- BA/BS degree in English, marketing, advertising, communications, journalism, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in copywriting, content development, or marketing writing, preferably within an in-house creative team, agency, or brand-led organization.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating writing craft across multiple formats and the ability to bring creative concepts to life through clear, compelling copy.
- Experience writing for marketing channels such as display advertising, email, direct mail, or similar customer-facing communications.
- Understanding of brand voice, campaign development, and writing for different audiences and formats.
- Ability to manage assigned work independently while contributing effectively to larger team projects.
- Familiarity with AI prompt writing and collaboration tools used to develop and review creative work.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to translate briefs, business objectives, and marketing strategies into clear, effective messaging
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with close attention to detail and a high standard for accuracy and quality.
- Comfort adapting copy across formats while maintaining consistency in tone, voice, and message.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with designers, creative peers, and marketing partners.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and a high volume of projects.
- A hands-on, execution-focused approach, with sound judgment about when to move forward independently and when to seek input.
PREFERRED
- Experience working within a large enterprise marketing or brand environment.
- Experience working within enterprise project management tools such as Wrike or Workfront.
- Familiarity with AP style or other editorial standards.
LOCATION:
This position is hybrid, with an expectation of three days per week in office. Preferred locations are commutable to New York City (Manhattan Office) or Washington D.C. (Corporate HQ).
