Job End Date August 28, 2026 The expected pay range will be $3800 - $3900 per month, depending on experience. OVERVIEW The VP Finance & Operations (VPFO) portfolio at the University of British Columbia plays a vital role at the heart of campus operations, overseeing the stewardship of the university’s physical and financial assets while advancing safety, risk management, and institutional assurance. Through this work, the portfolio helps create a secure, resilience, and well-supported environment that enable UBC’s academic mission and long-term sustainability. The Communications Coordinator will report to the Manager, Communications in the VPFO portfolio, working alongside the Communications Strategist. They will be responsible for assisting with a variety of coordinated communications tasks to help share information across our portfolio and to our campus community. Work Performed Provides basic design and revision support for print and digital materials, including: digital signage and graphics, physical posters, reports, presentations, and promotional assets as needed in line with the UBC/VPFO visual identity and with attention to audience needs. Creates content for digital channels, including websites, digital signage, photography, video clips, news posts, as aligned with wider communication initiatives and/or campaigns. Supports internal stakeholders’ communications needs by ensuring available assets, resources, guidelines, graphic standards, processes and protocols are being leveraged and utilized effectively. Curates relevant and existing content from partner channels and groups. Coordinates with printers and vendors, and distribution of promotional materials across the university, including in print and digital format. Assist in internal newsletters, including writing and soliciting content internally and from campus-wide partners. Designs and update templates and produces analytical reports to inform decision-making. Assist with events, including event promotional materials, logistics, vendors, and day-of event setup and delivery; may attend events after regular hours as needed; and Performs other related duties as required. Qualifications required and/or preferred A willingness to learn and gain new experiences. Capacity for creativity and innovation; ability to exercise initiative, resourcefulness and judgment. Interest in storytelling, digital media, communications, public relations, journalism and social media, advertising, or public engagement. Ability to interact comfortably and professionally with diverse groups of people. Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal, presentation, and public relations skills. Background in English, technical writing, or other editing experience with English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Experience with office and design software including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and Adobe Creative Suite - Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, an asset. Experience with website content management systems (Wordpress) an asset. Demonstrated ability to function as a member of a team. Ability to exercise diplomacy, tact and discretion when working with confidential and/or sensitive information and in dealing with various levels of administration and external agencies.
