Accounts Payable Manager
Washington, DC Area | Hybrid (3–4 Days Onsite)
A rapidly growing real estate investment and development platform is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to lead and scale the AP function across a complex multi-entity environment supporting large-scale commercial development and infrastructure projects throughout the DMV region.
This is a highly visible opportunity within an entrepreneurial, institutionally backed organization experiencing significant growth. The role offers direct exposure to executive leadership and the opportunity to help build scalable accounting operations within a sophisticated and evolving platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day accounts payable operations across multiple corporate and property-level entities
- Supervise and mentor AP staff while helping scale the function over time
- Improve AP workflows, policies, controls, and operational processes
- Serve as a key stakeholder in the organization’s ongoing Yardi optimization and AP workflow management
- Manage vendor onboarding, payment approvals, wire setups, and disbursement workflows
- Oversee 1099 processing and AP-related compliance requirements
- Coordinate invoice processing tied to development projects, construction activity, and corporate operations
- Assist with credit card administration and reconciliations
- Partner closely with accounting, finance, and operational leadership teams
- Support month-end close and AP reporting activities
- Help establish scalable processes to support continued organizational growth
Qualifications
- 8–15 years of accounting or accounts payable experience with prior management responsibility
- Experience managing AP operations within a multi-entity environment
- Real estate, construction, development, infrastructure, hospitality, or related industry experience preferred
- Yardi experience is required
- Strong understanding of AP operations, vendor management, payment processing, and internal controls
- Exposure to construction draws and lien waiver processes is a plus
- Strong communication skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Hands-on leadership style with both strategic and operational capabilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
