Title: General Ledger (GL) Manager

Location: Reston, VA (Hybrid – 1 day onsite / 4 days remote)

Compensation: $130K–$145K base + Bonus

About the Opportunity

We’re partnering with a growing organization in the government contracting space seeking a hands-on General Ledger Manager to lead close, reporting, and audit functions.

This is a high-impact leadership role where you’ll own the month-end close, drive process improvements, and oversee a small team, while remaining actively involved in day-to-day accounting operations.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Own general ledger and balance sheet management
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, FAR, CAS, and audit requirements (DCAA, external audits)
  • Oversee cost pools, indirect rates, and allocations
  • Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals (3–7 reports)
  • Support financial reporting, tax compliance, and internal controls
  • Partner cross-functionally with AP, AR, Payroll, and Project Controls
  • Drive process improvements, automation, and efficiency initiatives
  • Support audit readiness and regulatory compliance

What They’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 6–10+ years of progressive accounting experience (GovCon strongly preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, FAR, CAS, and cost accounting structures
  • Proven experience owning month-end close and financial reporting
  • Experience managing cost pools and indirect rates
  • Leadership experience managing or mentoring a team
  • Advanced Excel skills

Nice to Have

  • CPA or CMA
  • Experience with ERP systems (Deltek Costpoint, Oracle Fusion, Lawson, etc.)
  • Exposure to internal controls and audit processes
