Job description

Seeking motivated and hands-on Datacenter Infrastructure Engineers to

support the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the enterprise

datacenter and laboratory environments across Ontario.

This role is ideal for an IT infrastructure professional with experience in Linux systems,

virtualization, server hardware, networking, and datacenter operations. The successful

candidates will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of

mission-critical infrastructure while supporting operational projects, technical

troubleshooting, and infrastructure lifecycle management.

The position offers broad exposure to enterprise infrastructure technologies, datacenter

operations, and cross-functional projects within a dynamic and growing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Operations

 Support the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of

enterprise servers, operating systems, network devices, and related

infrastructure.

 Assist with datacenter power, cooling, and environmental monitoring activities.

 Perform hardware deployment, upgrades, replacements, and decommissioning.

 Support infrastructure change management and implementation activities.

Technical Support & Incident Management

 Investigate and resolve infrastructure-related incidents and service requests.

 Troubleshoot Linux systems, virtualization platforms, server hardware, operating

systems, and network connectivity issues.

 Coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues

efficiently.

 Participate in operational escalations and incident response activities.

Datacenter Operations

 Support daily datacenter operations, including equipment installation, rack-and-

stack activities, cabling, and asset management.

 Perform routine inspections of datacenter and laboratory facilities.

 Maintain inventory records, spare parts management, and equipment lifecycle

tracking.

 Ensure compliance with operational, security, and safety procedures.

Monitoring & Performance Management

 Monitor infrastructure health, capacity utilization, and system performance.

 Assist in identifying opportunities for optimization and operational improvements.

 Generate operational reports and maintain performance records.

 Support preventative maintenance activities and service reliability initiatives.

Laboratory & Facility Support

 Assist with laboratory infrastructure maintenance and support activities.

 Participate in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) inspections and compliance programs.

 Coordinate facility maintenance activities and vendor engagements when required.

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

 Create and maintain technical documentation, operating procedures, and knowledge base articles.

 Document infrastructure changes, incidents, troubleshooting activities, and operational processes.

 Contribute to process improvement initiatives and operational best practices.

Project Support

 Support datacenter expansion, relocation, migration, and infrastructure deployment projects.

 Assist with rack design, equipment installation, network implementation, and hardware migration activities.

 Collaborate with project teams to ensure successful project execution.

On-Call Support

 Participate in an on-call rotation to support critical infrastructure and datacenter operations.

 Provide timely response and resolution for high-priority incidents.

Qualifications Required

 Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science,

Engineering, or a related discipline.

 2–5 years of experience in IT infrastructure, datacenter operations, systems

administration, or technical support.

 Experience administering Linux-based operating systems (RHEL, CentOS,

Ubuntu, or equivalent).

 Hands-on experience with enterprise server hardware and infrastructure support.

 Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere, ESXi, or Hyper-V.

 Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking, switches, routers, VLANs, and network troubleshooting.

 Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

 Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills.

 Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred

 Experience working in datacenter, colocation, telecommunications, or cloud

infrastructure environments.

 Familiarity with scripting or automation tools (Bash, Python, PowerShell, etc.).

 Experience with monitoring platforms and IT service management tools.

 Knowledge of asset management and infrastructure lifecycle processes.

 Industry certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, VMware VCP, CCNA, or equivalent.
