Security System Installer – Full Time
Total Control Security is a family‑owned Alberta company specializing in the sales and installation of IP video surveillance, alarm systems, and access control solutions. Position Summary
We are hiring a full‑time Installer to join our team. Customer satisfaction is our top priority, and we are looking for someone who is honest, detail‑oriented, motivated, and able to think independently. The ideal candidate is a quick learner with strong problem‑solving skills and a genuine interest in technical systems.
You must be able to maintain a safe work environment by following all applicable codes, standards, and legal requirements. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will be responsible for building rapport with customers, addressing concerns, and providing clear explanations of installed systems. This role requires both independent work and teamwork. A typical work week is 40 hours, with overtime as required based on project scope.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED. Certificates in Security Systems, Electronics, or Computer Networking are strong assets.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, multimeters, and test equipment.
- Computer literacy with a working knowledge of operating systems; programming or networking experience is an asset.
- Participate in job‑specific training under the guidance of experienced technicians.
- Safety training or certifications are an asset. Ongoing education and skill development are expected.
- Ability to climb ladders, crouch, crawl, lift heavy items, work at heights (scissor lifts, roofs), and work in confined spaces (crawlspaces).
- Run low‑voltage cabling and conduit for surveillance, access control, and alarm systems.
- Terminate and test cables; install cameras, alarm devices, access control hardware, and related equipment (routers, power supplies, switches, wireless bridges).
- Program installed equipment and provide end‑user training.
- Perform service work including repairs, maintenance, firmware/software updates, and system upgrades. Conduct site surveys when required.
- Work in residential and commercial environments, both indoors and outdoors, including hot or inclement weather.
- Handle detailed, sometimes labour‑intensive tasks; willingness to learn and take direction is essential.
- Strong English communication skills (written and verbal), along with solid interpersonal, organizational, and telephone skills.
- Ability to train customers clearly and effectively on system operation.
Job Requirements
- Current (and annual) Criminal Record Check.
- Valid Driver’s License with annual driver’s abstract.
- Steel‑toed safety boots (all specialty tools are provided).

$19.00 – $32.00 per hour, depending on experience.
