MIDDLE SCHOOL ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL (Grades 6 - 8)

ADMINISTRATIVE RELATIONSHIPS

• Directly responsible to the principal.
• May be assigned to perform administrative functions for certificated and/or classified personnel.

Major Duties And Responsibilities

• Assists in the administration of the District educational program in assigned attendance area and may administer a District educational program as assigned by the principal.
• Actively assists the building principal to improve the instructional program.
• Participates in formulation of District policy proposals.
• May be assigned specific duties involving both the instructional and non-instructional aspects of elementary and middle school administration.
• Organizes inservice training activities including faculty meeting and workshops; provides individual assistance to teachers as assigned by the principal.
• Assists the building principal in maintaining working relationships with professional

organizations, Parent-Teacher Association, and parent education groups.

• Acts as building administrator in the absence of the principal.
• Directs and supervises personnel as assigned by the principal.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.

Desirable Qualifications

• Academic
• A valid California administrative credential.
• Master’s degree in education or other allied field.
• Professional Experience
• Five years of successful teaching experience at varied elementary and/or high school levels.
• Demonstrated ability as an educational leader through contributions to inservice and research.
• Related Experience

Leadership experience in community, professional, and/or youth organizations.
