About Company-
Torinit's - Monaro.ai is an AI platform that automates mechanical quantity takeoffs for HVAC and plumbing distributors. What normally takes a project coordinator 4–8 hours per project can be completed in under 20 minutes using our platform.
Location: India (Remote) | Contract Position
The Role -
We are looking for a Senior HVAC Estimator with strong hands-on experience in mechanical quantity takeoffs and HVAC distribution workflows.
This role is focused on helping improve and validate our AI-driven estimation platform by bringing real-world estimating expertise into the product development process. The ideal candidate has extensive experience reviewing mechanical drawings, performing quantity takeoffs, and identifying estimation gaps and edge cases across HVAC and plumbing projects.
This is not a sales role. The position can be structured as part-time consulting, fractional, or full-time depending on candidate availability and fit.
You will work closely with the product and engineering teams to ensure our platform reflects real estimator workflows and delivers estimator-grade accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
HVAC Estimation & Product Validation
- Audit how Monaro's AI interprets mechanical drawings across HVAC, plumbing, and hydronics projects
- Compare AI-generated takeoffs against manual estimations and identify discrepancies
- Guide the product team on real-world estimating workflows, including:
- Drawing markup
- Scope clarifications
- Addenda handling
- RFI interpretation
- Spec book alignment
- Validate quantity takeoff outputs on live project sets
- Identify edge cases and estimation scenarios where the AI model requires improvement
- Help build estimator-grade quality control and review workflows into the platform
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to improve estimation accuracy and usability
- Share practical feedback based on real project estimation experience
Must-Have Skills
- 7+ years of experience as an HVAC estimator at a mechanical distributor or mechanical contracting environment
- Strong experience reading mechanical drawings end-to-end, including HVAC and plumbing scope
- Deep understanding of:
- Equipment schedules
- Spec books
- Mechanical takeoffs
- Quantity estimation workflows
- Experience estimating multiple HVAC projects annually across commercial and/or industrial projects
- Familiarity with real-world estimation challenges and workflow processes
- Self-directed and comfortable working in a flexible remote environment
- Ability to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams
Nice to Have
- Experience training estimators or creating estimation SOPs
- Familiarity with estimation and takeoff tools such as:
- Trimble Accubid
- FastEST
- QuoteSoft
- PlanSwift
- Bluebeam
- Prior exposure to construction technology or AI-enabled estimation platforms
- Experience working with HVAC distributors across North America
