We are seeking a fun, team-oriented individual with strong organization and communication skills and a desire for small-town living to help us create remarkable experiences at our historic hotel.
We are committed to mentoring and supporting career development for youth in hospitality, and we are hiring several positions as part of the Canada Summer Jobs Youth Employment Program, including a Special Events Coordinator
To be eligible for these positions, you must be:
- between 15 and 30 years old at the start of the job
- a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or person with refugee status
Who Are We?
Owner-operated and community-focused, the Wells Hotel is seeking to elevate our historic inn to a destination accommodation, with a renewed vision for ambience, design, and experience. Special events and remarkable experiences play a central role in building our vision.
The Tasks
- Coordinate, market, and provide on-site support for special events hosted by the Wells Hotel (ie concerts, retreats, food events)
- Assist guests and clients in coordinating their events held at the Wells Hotel (ie catering, weddings, meetings)
- Develop and market custom tours and guest experience packages
- Develop and deliver welcome packages for guests celebrating special events
- Serve as liaison for the Wells Hotel with other organizations hosting events in the community
- Serve as liaison for the Hotel with Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Boards, and other event promoters in the region
- Maintain a calendar of events for internal coordination and communication
- Maintain a calendar of events for public marketing
- Create marketing materials, including social media, advertising, and posters for special events
- Assist in promoting catering and special event opportunities at the Hotel
- Develop a supply and vendor list to support special event logistics
- Assist in roll-out and clean up of special event décor and equipment
- Coordinate prize and sponsorship packages
- Collaborate with staff team to arrange for special guest requests
- Respond to guests complaints and challenges and collaborate with staff team to find the appropriate solution
- Collaborate with hotel staff team to create services and practices for exceptional guest experiences
What you’ll get
- Full-time position, 35 hours a week
- Starting at $19.00/hr with up to $21.00/hr with relevant experience
