ERT may also offer strategic assistance to designated protectees, secure venues, and National Special Security Events.

Job Responsibilities:
- Deliver security and protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, as well as foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. region.
- Travel for assignments supporting the President, Vice President, and foreign heads of state or government.
- Enforce protective responsibilities in line with Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A.
Basic Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Valid U.S. driver's license is required.
- Must be at least 20 years old at the time of application and under 40 at the time of referral, with exceptions for those with federal law enforcement service covered by special retirement provisions.
- Ability to carry and handle a firearm; maintaining firearm proficiency is mandatory.
- Vision must be no worse than 20/100 uncorrected, with corrected vision of 20/20 or better in each eye.
- Hearing loss must not exceed 25 decibels in either ear for specific frequency ranges; must hear a whispered voice at 15 feet without a hearing aid.
- Must pass a drug test prior to appointment and must participate in random drug testing during service.
- Complete 12 weeks of intensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) followed by 17 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center.
- For male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must certify registration with the Selective Service System or claim exemption.
