The Starz Program is a nationally recognized children’s fitness enrichment program that was established in Virginia Beach 20 years ago and is growing quickly nationwide. Our mission is to help kids build confidence, coordination, and a love of movement through fun, engaging classes. As Program Director supporting our Richmond, VA and Washington, D.C. locations, you’ll play a key leadership role in ensuring our programs run smoothly, our instructors feel supported, and every child and family has a positive, high-quality experience across both locations.
This is the perfect role for an experienced educator and team leader seeking meaningful work, supplemental income, and the chance to help shape a growing youth program.
Must be located in the Washington, D.C. area or Richmond, VA. Must be reachable Monday-Friday between 9am-5pm. Administrative work such as emails, calls, and scheduling can be done remotely from home on a flexible schedule. Weekly on-site work such as training new teachers, teaching classes, observing classes, leading team meetings, and meeting with school partners can be scheduled in advance. This role will require approx. 20 hours per week. This role has the potential to increase in hours and scope over time.
Core Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Support
- Serve as a trusted partner to the Owner/Executive Director overseeing operations, staff, and school partnerships across both locations
- Directly supervise 2 part-time program administrators to provide strategic guidance and operational oversight
- Provide leadership support to a team of ~20 part-time instructors
- Oversee staff hiring, training, development, and offboarding
- Foster a positive, accountable, and high-performing team culture
Program Operations
- Ensure classes run smoothly every day across ~50 preschool, elementary school, private school, and country club partners in both locations
- Oversee class scheduling, logistics, and instructor coverage (including last-minute needs and call-outs)
- Teach classes, sub for classes, and serve as a lead/model teacher for the team
- Lead seasonal planning with school partners to confirm class sessions and summer camps
School Partnerships
- Onboard new school partners to ensure a successful first class experience
- Maintain strong relationships and communications with school partners virtually and in-person
- Help expand the program by identifying and reaching out to new school partners via email, calls, and occasional in-person visits
Administrative
- Partner weekly with the Owner/Executive Director to review strategy and performance for both locations
- Lead and attend monthly in-person and virtual team meetings
- Manage program databases and systems
- Maintain compliance documentation and operational standards

Requirements
- Preschool or K12 teaching experience
- Administrative experience managing programs/projects, planning, events, lesson plans, and/or schedules.
- Experience directly managing/coaching staff; comfortable giving constructive feedback.
- Based in the Washington, DC area or Richmond, VA
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel weekly in the Washington, D.C. area and 1-2x per quarter to Richmond, VA (with some overnight trips)
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to pass a background check and meet physical requirements of working in active classroom environments
