As an R&D Laboratory Officer, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation, responsible for supporting TempRite™ CPVC product development, compound optimization, raw material evaluation, and technical problem-solving by performing laboratory tests, conducting CPVC formulation trials, analyzing test data, and maintaining high laboratory quality and safety standards. You would be directly contributing to improving CPVC resin/compound performance, processability, and customer application reliability. You'll collaborate with a diverse group of passionate individuals to deliver sustainable solutions to advance mobility, improve wellbeing, and enhance modern life. In this role, you will:
- Perform routine and advanced testing on CPVC resin, additives, compounds, and finished pipe/fittings samples.
- Conduct physical, mechanical, chemical, and thermal analyses using equipment such as:
- DSC, TGA, FTIR, MFI, Rheometer
- Tensile/UTM, Izod impact, Heat Deflection Temperature, Vicat softening
- Validate test results with repeatability and precision as per ASTM/ISO/BIS standards.
- Prepare CPVC dry blends, and experimental formulations.
- Support evaluation of lubricants, stabilizers, impact modifiers, pigments, and processing aids.
- Assist in two roll mill trials and small-scale compounding runs.
- Document all observations, deviations, and trial outcomes.
- Maintain detailed lab notebooks, trial protocols, and test reports.
- Prepare summarized technical reports and data presentations for internal and global TempRite teams.
- Assist in creating and updating SOPs, test methods, and calibration records.
- Perform routine calibration, performance checks, and preventative maintenance of the compounding lab equipment.
- Escalate any malfunction or deviation to the Lab Manager.
- Adhere to GLP, data integrity norms, and Lubrizol quality systems.
- Participate in lab audits and inter-lab data correlation programs.
- Follow all EHS guidelines related to chemical handling, hot equipment operation, waste disposal, PPE.
- Support incident reporting, risk assessments, and safety improvement initiatives.
- Support production teams in troubleshooting CPVC processing issues.
- Assist Technical Service (TS) team with failure analysis and customer complaints.
- Work with global TempRite R&D for project execution and testing needs.
Preferred Qualifications That Drive You Forward
- Master’s degree in Polymer Science/Technology
- Minimum work experience of 2 to 6 years in polymer industry/PVC industry - CPVC/PVC processing, testing, or compounding knowledge is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of CPVC/PVC polymer behavior, fusion, rheology, and thermal stability.
- Hands-on experience with analytical and mechanical testing instruments.
- Familiarity with ASTM, ISO, and BIS test standards for polymers.
- Strong data interpretation and report-writing skills.
- Computer Skills: MS Office, SAP, statistical tools
