The Davis Media Company is an innovative publishing company that works with non-profit organizations across North America to deliver industry leading print and online communications.

We are hiring a new managing editor to manage our editorial department and work directly with our clients to produce beautiful products. Successful candidates will be motivated self-starters and comfortable working with our clients, writer network and executive team. In this role you'll design content strategies, drive editorial content, and produce amazing publications delivered to tens of thousands of people across North America.

DAILY ACTIVITIES:

• Develop annual and per-issue content ideas in collaboration with our association partners and their editorial boards.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for our association partners for all content in our publications, newsletters, and websites.
• Research and become familiar with important topics facing our association partners.
• Create editorial plans and article briefs.
• Work with our team of freelance writers to develop articles to a high journalistic standard.
• Copyedit articles to CP or AP style.
• Suggest layouts/designs/photos for our design team to bring your vision to life.
• Flat plan publications manage content through our CRM.
• Manage proofing and revisions to ensure that every publication is perfect prior to distribution.
• Work with our executive team to produce production schedules and documents for use by our sales team.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Mastery over CP and AP style guides and able to edit submitted editorial to the associated editorial style without supervision.
• Undergraduate degree/college diploma in creative communications, journalism, or equivalent work experience required.
• Self-motivated and fast learner.
• Impeccable verbal and written communication skills.
• Capable of multitasking, prioritizing, and managing several projects at once with strict adherence to deadlines.
• Effective working both individually and as part of a team.
• Comfortable with technology (Microsoft Office, Google Workspaces, CRM).
• Comfortable working in a remote/distributed environment with a dedicated workspace.
• Bilingualism (French and English) considered an asset.
