Job Description
Location: Mill Bay - Squl'ew', Canada Position Summary Thales requires a Warehouse Operator who will be primarily responsible for the timely and efficient flow of materials through the warehouse and in the dockyard to support ship maintenance activity. Manual and automated functions include, but are not limited to, processing receipts, shipping requirements, inventory control tasks and material routing functions to/from the dockyard for maintenance work. Regulatory Compliance Requirement This position requires direct or indirect access to hardware, software or technical information controlled under the Canadian Export Control List and/or the US Export Administration Regulations (EAR). All applicants must be eligible or able to obtain authorization for such access. Key Areas of Responsibility Ensure the effective and timely execution of logistic activities. Receiving — verify and inspect incoming material and documentation, process receipts, track shipments. Shipping — prepare domestic, US and international outgoing freight in accordance with packaging specifications; complete documentation and labelling; comply with customs and export requirements. Process requisitions; issue, pick, package and move material; distribute parts for customer delivery. Locate and store inventory in designated and approved storage areas in accordance with hazardous goods and other applicable statutory regulations. Inventory control functions including cycle counting, stocktaking and investigation. Monitor stocking levels and shelf life inventory; review and recommend adjustments. Accurate and timely data entry into the Inventory Management System to update material activity and status. Coordinate and record movement of material assets, including: Action and schedule shipping requirements with couriers and freight forwarders; track freight, resolve frustrated cargo situations and identify distribution improvements. Oversee material returns; process, track and report status as required. Direct component repair and overhaul (R&O) activity; monitor repair lines and schedule, track and report on status; expedite availability from repair to maintain stocking levels. Manage repairable equipment and special tools/test equipment. Maintain equipment calibration program; liaise with relevant stakeholders and track/report status. Participate in and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives; attend meetings. Prepare and generate warehouse reports, maintain registers and record keeping. Operate delivery vehicles, forklifts and other material handling equipment; load/unload transport vehicles and containers. Provide support in implementing improved SAP functionality to increase logistic efficiencies. Become knowledgeable about company policies/procedures and monitor day-to-day activities for compliance. Recommend changes as appropriate to enhance departmental effectiveness. Support activities to ensure compliance with ISO quality accreditation and defense regulatory requirements. Maintain an ethical approach to tasks and relationships in accordance with Thales policies. Minimum Qualifications Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience performing similar activities within a logistics environment. Proven warehouse and logistics experience in a fast-paced environment. Previous experience using SAP or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. Familiarity with Occupational Health, Safety & Environment policies and procedures. Special Position Requirements Physical: Role requires on-site work. Position is physically demanding with requirement to lift up to 22 kg (50 lbs) and to walk or stand for the majority of the working shift. Schedule: 40 working hours per week, Monday–Friday. Valid forklift license and/or operator experience. Valid and current provincial driver's license. The anticipated Total Target Compensation (TTC), inclusive of annual salary and bonus eligibility, for this role is CAD 45,000 to 65,000 annually.
