Corporate Communications Manager

The Communications Manager provides internal communications support for strategic programs and engagement initiatives, internal campaigns and bulletins, speeches, and presentations. An emerging high-performer, this team member develops communications products that engage, inform, equip, and motivate team members to deliver on TELUS Digital’s business objectives.

Success in this role will be evident by the Communications Manager's ability to drive business priorities across TELUS Digital through the delivery of innovative communications.

Main Responsibilities:

Leads communications strategy and engagement for TELUS Digital Canada team members, as well as supports communications initiatives for senior leaders, global teams, including program leads, with direct communications and/or program support and product delivery that leverages both traditional and innovative mediums. Develops, implements, and evolves best-in-class communications tactics, key messages, and metrics that enhance engagement, increase profile, and drive business priorities and strategic program objectives. Works in collaboration with the Director of Communications, the global corporate communications team, internal clients, and regional communications teams to drive business priorities through authentic, inspiring, innovative, and effective communications. Ensures clear, timely, and consistent internal communications for programs across the organization. Develops and maintains knowledge of communications best practices and adopts for use when appropriate.

Requirements

  • 7+ years work experience in corporate/internal communications
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills and a strong command of the English language, including proper grammar usage and a keen eye for detail
  • Knowledge and experience in developing and implementing communications strategies and campaigns
  • Higher education in communications, journalism, public relations, or similar field
  • Ability to build rapport and communicate tactfully with various levels of the organization
  • Experience with People & Culture-/Human Resources-centered communications, preferred
  • High degree of integrity and values authenticity.

  • Persuasive communications skills and advanced writing and editing skills; proven ability to write compelling communications, speeches, and presentations.
  • Demonstrated abilities in developing and implementing both proactive and reactive communications programs.
  • French language skills an asset (but not required)

Knowledge:

  • Client service and consultative orientation to deal with a demanding and sophisticated audience at the organization’s senior levels, as well as with other key internal and external audiences
  • Keen observer of the general business environment, industry trends, competitive and regulatory issues, and opportunities, and current affairs as they may relate to TELUS Digital
  • Able to see the big picture and can anticipate emerging issues and trends, and then tailor communications strategies and tactics to address them.

Studies & Experience:

  • Required Professional Designation/Certification: University Degree, Undergraduate degree, and/or a Diploma in Communications from a Community College
  • Additional post-secondary education, an Accredited in Public Relations, or an Accredited Business Communicator designation are considered assets
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience working in corporate communications/internal communications within an entrepreneurial, corporate environment or as a senior consultant in a public relations agency - Required.
