Role Description:
Symphony is looking for an experienced QAOps Engineer / Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) who is passionate about delivering high-quality, scalable, and reliable software experiences to enterprise customers.
This role combines Quality Engineering, Test Automation, DevOps practices, and operational excellence to build and maintain scalable quality systems across complex cloud-native platforms. You will work closely with engineering teams across multiple time zones to improve product quality through automation, CI/CD integration, observability, release governance, and data-driven quality insights.
The ideal candidate is a strong developer with deep automation expertise, capable of building quality platforms and enabling teams to shift quality practices earlier in the development lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Define and promote best practices for quality engineering, automation standards, test reliability, and release validation and collaborate with development, DevOps, product to ensure quality is embedded throughout the software lifecycle
- Develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks and QAOps infrastructure for UI, API, backend, and end-to-end testing across multi-cloud environments (AWS/GCP) through CI/CD pipelines
- Continuously improve automation coverage by converting manual validation into reliable automated testing
- Analyze test results, production trends, system telemetry, and quality metrics to proactively identify risks and regressions
- Support release readiness activities including QA sign-off, deployment validation, release coordination, and post-release monitoring
Required Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automation orchestration tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar
- Good software development and scripting experience in languages such as Java, TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Groovy, or C#, with hands-on experience building automation frameworks for modern web applications (React/TypeScript/JavaScript)
- Experience with UI automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or Robot Framework, and backend/API testing tools such as REST Assured, Postman, or SoapUI
- Experience working with cloud-native infrastructure and distributed systems in AWS and/or GCP environments. Familiarity with containerized environments such as Docker and Kubernetes is a plus
- Working knowledge of JIRA, test management, and defect tracking tools
- Experience troubleshooting client-server architectures, web applications, backend APIs, and distributed systems
- Proven experience supporting QA sign-off processes, release validation, and production readiness activities
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills across globally distributed teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience with performance, resiliency, chaos, or scalability testing
- Familiarity with shift-left testing and continuous quality engineering practices
- Exposure to AI-assisted testing, intelligent test selection, or automation analytics is a plus
Compensation:
- Salary Range: £40,000 - 50,000 base salary per year
