About The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Lead QA Automation Engineer to join our team in Toronto. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for shaping and executing the quality assurance strategy, designing scalable automation frameworks, and leading a high-performing QA team. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Product Management, and DevOps to ensure the delivery of high-quality software products across modern web, API, and enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a passion for quality assurance to drive continuous improvement and excellence in our testing processes.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of software testing experience within Agile development environments
  • 7+ years of hands-on test automation experience
  • Proven leadership experience, including leading QA teams or acting as a QA Architect
  • Expertise in automation tools such as Selenium, WebdriverIO, REST Assured, Postman, or similar
  • Experience building automation frameworks from scratch
  • Hands-on experience with BDD/TDD frameworks like Cucumber, Cypress, Playwright, TestNG, etc.
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar tools
  • Strong knowledge of QA methodologies and testing types including UI, API, Functional, Regression, SIT, and UAT
  • Experience with defect tracking and test management tools such as JIRA
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of QA strategies across multiple projects and teams
  • Design, develop, and scale robust automation frameworks for UI, API, and end-to-end testing
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to QA engineers, fostering best practices and continuous learning
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Developers, and DevOps teams to ensure testability and quality throughout the SDLC
  • Drive end-to-end automation efforts, including building frameworks from scratch when necessary
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and accelerate release cycles
  • Oversee test planning, test case design, execution, and defect management processes
  • Ensure comprehensive test coverage across functional, regression, integration (SIT), and UAT testing phases
  • Coordinate with release management and deployment teams to facilitate smooth product releases
  • Establish QA standards, documentation, test architecture, and governance practices
  • Analyze quality metrics and provide insights to stakeholders for ongoing process improvement
  • Act as a key escalation point for quality risks, defects, and production issues
