Job Description
The Fleet and Safety Manager is responsible for the oversight of all company vehicles and the implementation of safety programs. This role ensures that our fleet is road-worthy, cost-effective, and fully compliant with Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations. You will work closely with drivers and warehouse staff to foster a "safety-first" culture.
Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Previous moving and storage experience a preferred
- Proficient in MS Office and Outlook
- Knowledge of commercial vehicle maintenance and repairs
- Knowledge of driver logs
- Knowledge DOT, FMCSA and OSHA regulations.
Job Duties:
- Compliance & Documentation: Maintain all driver qualification files, ELD (Electronic Logging Device) records, and IFTA reporting. Ensure all vehicles have current registrations and permits.
- Maintenance Management: Schedule and track preventative maintenance and repairs for a fleet of trucks and trailers to minimize downtime and ensure safety.
- Safety Training: Conduct safety orientations for new hires and ongoing training for existing drivers (defensive driving, cargo securement, and lifting techniques).
- Accident/Claims Management: Lead investigations for on-road incidents, manage insurance claims, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Audit Readiness: Act as the primary point of contact for DOT audits and roadside inspection follow-ups.
- Vendor Relations: Manage relationships with fuel providers, repair shops, and equipment vendors to control operational costs.
- Container Drayage: Dispatch and manage driver's schedule for pick up and return of containers from the port of Baltimore.
- Material Purchasing: Source and purchase packing materials from approved vendors.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 3-5 years in fleet management or transportation safety, preferably in the moving and storage or household goods industry.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA regulations.
- Skills: Proficiency in fleet management software and MS Office (Excel/Outlook).
- Licensing: A valid CDL (Class A or B) is preferred but not always required; a clean driving record is essential.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Must be able to inspect vehicles in various weather conditions.
- Occasional travel to job sites may be required.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
