SPECTRA is a full service aluminum parts supplier with 5 manufacturing facilities in Ontario with an industry leading growth strategy. Our Head Offices are located in Bradford, and due to a new manufacturing facility opening in Bradford and promotions from within Spectra, Has an opportunity at our:

Vaughan Facility for: Plant Manager

We are looking for someone with ~5+ years of experience in operating a state-of-the-art production facility. Critical Success Factors:

  • Maintain a safe work environment by applying corporate health & safety programs focused on prevention through lowering risk. Ensure health and safety is the top priority and promote employee awareness and commitment to safety.
  • Provide leadership to the plant. Promote and enhance a positive team environment, including efforts to establish and maintain higher levels of employee involvement and communication. Attract, identify, develop and retain organization/department talent in an ongoing effort to support the ‘top talent’ management philosophy. This includes all facets of talent acquisition, performance management and employee learning and development.
  • Manage with Key Measurables. Review the overall operation of the plant to ensure that quantitative and qualitative measures are met, including customer satisfaction, scheduling, standard costs, cost reductions, continuous improvement and capital/technology improvements.
  • Application experience with world-class manufacturing techniques including Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and its framework of procedures and techniques [such as Sigma Six and Lean Manufacturing].
  • Promote a focus on excellence in all manufacturing practices, including those required to support optimal quality, yield and cost containment, and minimal rework or downgrades. Monitor and communicate performance on an on-going basis to ensure production is focused on targets.
  • Continuously evaluate the business structure and staffing levels to ensure the business resources reflect current market conditions and demand for products and services.

Key Attributes of the Ideal Candidate:

  • Five (5) years’ experience in a leadership role within the processing or manufacturing environment including production planning, inventory control, quality and continuous improvement.
  • Commitment to learning, by way of advanced courses and/or a University degree (eg. Engineering, Science or MBA).
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills, fluent in both oral and written English.
  • Proficient with standard office computer software’s/applications such as Microsoft Office (Word & Excel), as well as ERP systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Able to delegate effectively in a team environment, to mentor and develop others and have a high level of collaboration and interaction with all departments.
  • Strong cost center management experience as part of their respective operational responsibilities and have a solid track record in providing positive results.
  • Demonstrated experience in Lean Manufacturing practices.
