TEST TECHNICIAN (STARLINK)
SpaceX is developing a low latency, broadband internet system to meet the needs of consumers across the globe. Enabled by a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites, Starlink will provide fast, reliable internet to populations with little or no connectivity, including those in rural communities and places where existing services are too expensive or unreliable. We are looking for talented test technicians to support the development and production of optoelectronic devices for Starlink.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for preventative maintenance activities on test equipment and data acquisition systems
- Use mechanical hand tools and torque wrenches to set up parts on test fixtures.
- Support development tests setup and test lab organization efforts.
- Self-monitor work progress against fast-paced area benchmarks and achieve on time delivery of all work.
- Program and operate environmental test chambers and/or vibration shakers.
- Use basic and advanced electronic test equipment and Test Racks/DAQs to run performance tests on parts.
- Assist design engineers with developing and documenting test procedures.
- Interpret a variety of sources ranging from controlled, released documentation to informal sketches.
- Identify design gaps; ask directed questions, and apply skill and experience to resolve them, and update documentation to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain clean, stocked, and orderly work area.
- Work with design engineers to troubleshoot failures of parts and test equipment.
- Assist with the development of production processes for first time production runs.
- Assist with area efficiency and 5S improvement projects.
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 2+ years of experience working with test equipment or hand tools in a manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, or military environment

Associate or bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field
- Prior experience with thermal, thermal vacuum, vibration and/or shock testing
- Experience in the aerospace industry, aviation, military or other high-volume operating environment preferred
- Capable of working with diverse electrical test equipment, including analog, digital, optical, and RF
- Basic understanding of networking, including VLANs, namespaces and routing.
- Proficiency with Windows OS and/or Linux
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong team-work skills
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be willing to work all shifts, overtime and/or weekends as needed.
- Repetitive assembly operations, grasping, standing, lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position
- Must be able to lift to 25 lbs. unassisted
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Test Technician 1: $23.00 - $29.00/hour
Test Technician 2: $28.00 - $34.50/hour
Test Technician 3: $33.00 - $40.00/hour
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You will also receive access to comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks. You may also accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year. Employees in Washington State accrue paid sick time in compliance with state and federal law. Company shuttles are offered to employees for roundtrip travel from select Seattle locations to the SpaceX Redmond office Monday to Friday.
