Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Asst Food Service Manager. This position is primarily responsible for the overall administrative functions of the dining facility. Accurate data entry, attention to detail and proper file maintenance are key components of your job. Works directly for the Project Manager and should be familiar with AR 30-22, DA PAM 30-22, AFMIS User’s Manual, and administrative and filing requirements. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food service management. As a Facility Manager, you will play a crucial role in staff training, inventory control, and maintaining the high standards of our military dining establishment.

Duties

  • Knowledge of Dining Facility (Food Service) operations, to include the ability to read, comprehend, and produce required reports, schedules, etc.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting procedures associated with cash handling and headcount.
  • One-year experience in the operation and input of an automated food service subsistence management system.
  • The ability to read, and comprehend written information, and have basic Math skills.
  • Manage inventory control by monitoring stock levels and placing orders as necessary to ensure availability of ingredients.
  • Answers telephone, takes messages, and coordinates with government representatives, when required to obtain equipment or service.
  • Performs a variety of clerical, typing and administrative support duties in conjunction with the operation of a Military Dining Facility.
  • Maintains files, manuals and instructions/procedures pertaining to the dining facility operations IAW applicable regulations.
  • Maintains files of correspondence, reports, standard recipes, requisitions report, etc.
  • Posts information daily to menu boards, to include types of meal, menu items and calorie count.
  • Performs duties involved in receiving, issuing and accounting for cash and cash meal payments. Receives cash meal payment sheets from the Project Manager or his/her representative for recording signatures. Issues cash meal payment sheets and change funds to headcounters. Receives and completes cash meal payment sheets and change fund from headcounters. Counts and records collections determining that correct amounts have been collected in accordance with regulations. Examines cash and cash processing documents, i.e., cash meal payment sheets, control record sheets, etc., for validity, accuracy, and completeness. Locks change fund and documents in safe until issued to the appropriate personnel. Resolves discrepancies by tracing transactions, checking computations, etc.
  • Prepares cash collection vouchers and readies the cash for turn-in to Finance and Accounting Office.
  • Prepares draft menus utilizing the AFMIS system for manager’s review and approval.
  • Operates the Army Food Management Information System (AFMIS) terminal in accordance with the AFMIS End Users Manual, and applicable regulations and contract requirements.
  • Maintains a professional business attire and acceptable appearance. Maintains a positive and courteous demeanor.
  • Maintains office area clean and organized.
  • May from time to time be required to pull headcount functions. Or assist in inventory management.
  • Perform other duties as required or directed. Exercise quality control in knowing what is expected in your administrative, data entry and customer service duties. Assist in scheduling staff shifts to ensure adequate coverage during peak hours.

Experience

  • Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant setting, preferably in a supervisory role.
  • Familiarity with food service management principles, including inventory control and staff training techniques.
  • Five years experience in a clerical position.
  • Experience in the operation and input of an automated food service subsistence management information system.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively lead a diverse team.
  • Basic computer skill knowledge.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $43,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
