Job Description

Solvest – Who We Are:

Solvest was founded in the Yukon in 2015 and has become a leader in delivering renewable energy solutions across northern and remote regions. We specialize in designing and executing large-scale solar and battery storage projects built for challenging and complex environments. Our work is grounded in strong, long-term partnerships with communities, municipalities, and commercial clients, where we prioritize collaboration, trust, and shared outcomes. By accelerating the shift away from fossil-fuel reliance, we strive to support energy sovereignty, environmental stewardship, and a more resilient future. Our core values are Innovation, Trust, Empowerment, and Tenacity.

Our secret weapon? The Solvest PowerPod, our in-house manufactured, modular, Canadian-made Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). Field-tested in the Arctic and designed to thrive where off-the-shelf solutions fail, we are now ready to scale our impact across the country.

What We Offer

  • A people-focused workplace; our employees are the centre of our culture.
  • A chance to contribute to a greener and more inclusive future.
  • Working with a great team with a focus on employee growth and development.
  • Work life balance – we are currently trialing a 4-day work week.
  • Competitive compensation.
  • Employer-paid health benefits.
  • Open book financials across the company.

The Opportunity:

We are not looking for a sales rep; we are looking for a market builder. This is a hunter role with a national scope. You will be the face of Solvest's expansion, focused on taking PowerPods to clients within the mining, exploration, First Nations, remote infrastructure sectors, Travel lodges, and new target markets across Canada

This is not about selling a generic product off a shelf; it is about complex project origination. You will position the PowerPod as the heart of reliable, independent energy systems for remote, diesel dependent sites. You will navigate long, consultative project development cycles, build genuine trust with stakeholders who need to know their power won't fail when the temperature drops, and manage the full sales cycle from lead generation through to contract close and a clean handoff to the operations team, supported by Solvest's Yukon-based engineering and manufacturing teams.

Reporting to the Chief Business Officer, this is a targeted sales role focused on identifying and closing opportunities within the following remote off-grid primary markets: Mining, Travel Lodges, Highway Camps and rural communities seeking energy independence.

This is a remote position generating leads across Canada.

Note: This role is focused on battery energy storage system integration sales in remote and off-grid markets. Candidates with experience limited to software, SaaS, short-cycle product sales, or residential solar are unlikely to be a strong fit.

Employment Status: Permanent Full Time. We are currently trialing a 4-day work week (36 hours).

Wage Range: $55,000 – $ 75,000 base salary + competitive uncapped accelerator based commission structure

Benefits: Employer-paid comprehensive health benefits package after 3 months (including unlimited access to virtual health care, mental health care, and virtual pharmacy via Dialogue); paid vacation; paid sick days; and more.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The BESS Champion: Hunt and qualify high-value PowerPod opportunities across Canada
  • National Expansion: Use your existing network to open doors with an eligible client base who can benefit from integrating these systems into existing infrastructure.
  • Strategic Velocity: Move leads through the pipeline with speed and precision, collaborating with our engineering and manufacturing teams to deliver high-impact proposals.
  • Stakeholder Mastery: Navigate the boardroom and the community hall with equal ease, providing comprehensive support from initial contact to contract close and operational handoff to the operations team.
  • Market Intelligence: Stay ahead of Canadian regulatory changes, carbon pricing, and federal and provincial funding programs to maximize project viability.
  • CRM Discipline: Build and maintain a gold-standard pipeline in our CRM to drive forecasting and strategy.

Success Measures (KPIs):We measure what matters. Your success is defined by:

  • Pipeline Velocity: How fast can you move a lead from hello to handoff?
  • Conversion Rate: Turning qualified leads into active project developments.
  • Proposal Turnaround: Delivering comprehensive technical proposals with clear business cases, winning bids with urgency.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensuring a seamless transition from closed-won to our operations team.

Who You Are

You are a commercially sharp, relationship-driven sales professional with a genuine understanding of the Canadian remote energy market. You know that selling requires patience, credibility, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments. You are comfortable operating independently across a large geographic territory and you take full ownership of your results.

You are a proven closer. You have built your career generating new business in complex, multi-stakeholder project sales in energy infrastructure, mining, or heavy construction, and you don't just manage accounts; you build new business. You understand the economic case for energy storage in remote areas, whether it is reducing diesel dependency for a mining camp or supporting energy sovereignty for a First Nations community. You can explain technical power systems to a site engineer and talk 10-year IRR with a CFO.

You are tenacious and motivated by the mission. You don't wait for leads to land in your inbox; you identify the most energy-vulnerable sites in Canada and you go after them. You build your own momentum.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of B2B sales experience in energy storage, remote energy, mining services, heavy construction or a closely related field; a demonstrated track record of closing multi-stakeholder, complex deals is required.
  • Experience selling to mining operations, Indigenous communities, or remote infrastructure markets is a strong asset.
  • Existing network of contacts within the Canadian mining or remote energy sector is considered a significant advantage.
  • Familiarity with Canadian regulatory landscape, carbon pricing, and federal or provincial funding programs is an asset.
  • Technically literate with the ability to understand and communicate battery storage and microgrid concepts, including BESS design and project economics, without requiring engineering support in client conversations.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and data-driven sales reporting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and accountable to results.
  • Willingness to travel across Northern Canada as required.

Additional Requirements

  • Background check
  • Driver's license with a clean abstract and minimum 3 years claims experience history
