Associate Attorney – Litigation & Professional Responsibility
About the Company
A well-established and growing boutique law practice is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its litigation team. This position offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated disputes involving commercial litigation, employment-related matters, business conflicts, professional responsibility issues, and appellate proceedings.
About the Role
The ideal candidate is a motivated attorney who enjoys advocacy, legal analysis, client counseling, and strategic problem solving. This role is well-suited for someone seeking hands-on litigation experience while developing a long-term practice and client base.
Responsibilities
- Represent clients in litigation, arbitration, mediation, and appellate matters.
- Manage case strategy from inception through resolution.
- Draft pleadings, motions, memoranda, discovery requests, and other legal filings.
- Conduct legal research and analysis of statutes, regulations, and case law.
- Prepare witnesses, exhibits, and supporting documentation for hearings, depositions, and trials.
- Advise clients on risk management, compliance, and professional responsibility matters.
- Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and court personnel.
- Attend court appearances, hearings, mediations, and depositions.
- Maintain organized case files and ensure compliance with applicable procedural requirements.
- Collaborate with attorneys across multiple practice areas to deliver comprehensive legal solutions.
- Contribute to business development and client relationship initiatives.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active Maryland Bar admission and good standing required.
- Minimum of 1 year of litigation experience.
- Strong legal writing, research, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
- Experience handling complex litigation matters is preferred.
- Familiarity with professional responsibility, legal ethics, or attorney disciplinary matters is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines simultaneously.
- Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently.
- Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to exceptional client service.
