A leading Indian consumer products organization operating in a highly regulated manufacturing environment is looking to appoint a Head - Procurement Supply Chain to lead its national sourcing and materials management strategy.
This is a critical leadership role with responsibility for ensuring cost efficiency, supply assurance, regulatory compliance, and strategic vendor partnerships across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and drive an enterprise-wide procurement and supply chain strategy aligned with business growth, cost optimization, and supply continuity.
- Own end-to-end sourcing of raw materials and packaging, ensuring uninterrupted availability amid regulatory, seasonal, and market volatility.
- Design and implement state-wise sourcing strategies, factoring in regulatory requirements, inter-state movement constraints, and local supplier ecosystems.
- Lead vendor identification, negotiations, contracting, and commercial finalisation across direct and indirect procurement categories.
- Partner closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, RD, and Marketing teams on demand planning, inventory optimisation, working capital management, and new product initiatives.
- Drive structured cost optimisation initiatives without compromising quality or compliance.
- Establish robust procurement governance, policies, and controls across all locations.
- Lead and mentor national and plant-level procurement teams, building strong capability and accountability.
- Oversee indirect procurement across marketing spends, engineering, CAPEX, logistics, and services, ensuring transparency, control, and value creation.
- Strengthen vendor governance frameworks, contract management, and spend optimisation for indirect categories.
Candidate Profile
- 20+ years of post-qualification experience in Procurement / Supply Chain, with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles.
- Strong experience in regulated manufacturing environments (e.g., Alcobev, FMCG, Pharma, Chemicals, Tobacco, Cement, or similar).
- Proven capability in handling state-wise sourcing models and regulatory complexities.
- Excellent negotiation, commercial, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience managing both direct and indirect procurement portfolios.
- Hands-on working knowledge of SAP (Materials Management module preferred).
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders at senior levels.
Qualification;
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain / Logistics / Engineering or related discipline.
- MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification preferred.
