Job Description
Severn Sailing Association (SSA) is a private membership club for one-design racing sailors.
We host racing all months of the calendar, from low-key weeknight events to national and world
championships; junior sailing, including fall and spring high school sailing and a busy summer
junior program; and social and educational programs all year.
SSA is not a traditional yacht club. SSA is a community of sailors who commit to making the
club successful through volunteer service. Because SSA is built on this volunteerism, we
maintain only a small staff to ensure support of our programs. SSA is run by an elected Board of
Governors; with committees tackling work in defined areas. This means that SSA’s staff must
work together as a collaborative, cooperative team.

Position Overview
The Junior Program Director leads all aspects of SSA’s junior sailing programs, with a strong
emphasis on junior sailing, high school sailing, and junior-focused racing initiatives. This role
combines program leadership, coaching oversight, event management, and community
engagement to deliver safe, high quality, and competitive sailing opportunities.
The Junior Program (JRP) Director also works with the Junior Program (JRP) Operations
Manager to execute the mission of the program to “Develop life-long sailors”.
Start date June 1 or August 1, depending on the candidate.
