Ascend Technology Inc is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with recent experience working on large‑scale consumer tech or e‑commerce platforms. You’ll join a high‑performing engineering team, contributing to core product development and tackling complex technical challenges in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment. You will design, build, and optimize enterprise‑level applications, primarily in Java and SQL, while collaborating with product management and engineering peers.

The role requires strong CS fundamentals, large‑scale systems experience, and the ability to deliver robust, well‑tested code.

Key Responsibilities - Develop and optimize enterprise software applications (Java focus) - Work with product management to define and prioritize functionality - Operate in a modified Scrum environment, managing tasks independently - Peer review code for bugs, performance, and security issues - Implement best practices in design, coding standards, and scalability - Perform unit and system testing across applications - Handle application design aspects including caching, state management, error logging, and environment configuration Candidate Requirements - BS/BA in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience) - 6–12 years of software development experience - Strong Java and SQL expertise - Object‑oriented design skills and enterprise software delivery experience - Experience diagnosing and fixing performance, scalability, and concurrency issues Preferred - Experience with Hibernate and/or Spring - Familiarity with Google Cloud, Kubernetes, and Gradle - Strong employment history with reputable companies (no gaps or short‑term roles) Compensation and Benefits - Pay: $60–$90/hour (depending on experience) - Contract: 6 months (extendable up to 2 years) - Health insurance - Remote work flexibility Location Remote – anywhere in the USA or Canada.
