About the Role
Samee Metal Trading is seeking a high-caliber Plant Manager to lead our Hamilton operations. In this pivotal role, you will oversee all warehouse and operational activities within a specialized Steel Coil storage environment. You will be responsible for the sophisticated handling, storage, and movement of heavy materials.
We are looking for a hands-on leader who bridges the gap between high-level strategy and floor-level execution, ensuring that safety, quality, and productivity are never compromised.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Supervision
- Direct Operations: Oversee daily warehouse activities, including planning, assigning, and coordinating shifts to meet demanding output goals.
- Team Development: Train, lead, mentor, and support warehouse associates. Set clear expectations for performance, foster accountability, and manage employee relations.
- Performance Culture: Drive a culture where results are recognized and continuous improvement is the standard.
Operational Excellence & Reporting
- KPI Management: Monitor and report on key metrics, including productivity, order accuracy, turnaround time, and inventory precision.
- Lean Initiatives: Identify bottlenecks and implement Lean manufacturing principles (5S, workflow optimization, and waste reduction) to drive down costs.
- Data-Driven Decisions: Analyze operational data to forecast needs and implement structural improvements.
Material Handling & Inventory Control
- Specialized Logistics: Oversee the safe movement of steel coils and heavy materials using overhead cranes and forklifts.
- Layout Optimization: Design and maintain warehouse layouts that maximize space utilization and accessibility.
- Integrity & Accuracy: Lead cycle counts and stock reconciliation; implement procedures to eliminate material damage and loss.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Safety Advocacy: Enforce strict adherence to OHSA and internal safety protocols. Conduct regular audits and "toolbox talks."
- Incident Management: Lead investigations into near-misses or accidents, ensuring robust corrective and preventive actions are executed.
Education, Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience specifically within the Steel Industry.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong command of Google Workspace.
- Industrial Expertise: Proven track record in cost center management and a solid understanding of heavy-material logistics.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional communication, delegation, and cross-functional collaboration skills. You must be able to mentor a team while interacting effectively with executive departments.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $90,000-$120,000( Commensurate with skills and experience).
- Paid Vacation Leave: 4% Accruals
