Position Details

Designation: Associate / Manager - Mergers & Acquisitions & Strategy

Location: Delhi (Corporate Office)

Reporting To: Chief Strategy Officer

Role Purpose :

To drive SAEL's inorganic growth strategy by identifying, evaluating, and executing M&A opportunities, while supporting corporate strategy initiatives across the renewable energy portfolio (biomass, solar, and allied businesses).

Key Responsibilities :

1. Mergers & Acquisitions

  • Identify and evaluate acquisition, JV, and partnership opportunities in the renewable energy sector
  • Develop detailed financial models
  • Lead and coordinate due diligence (financial, commercial, legal, technical) with internal and external stakeholders
  • Support deal structuring, negotiations, documentation, and closure

2. Strategy & Growth Initiatives

  • Support leadership in corporate strategy, expansion planning, and market entry decisions
  • Conduct industry analysis, competitor benchmarking, and policy tracking
  • Develop strategic business cases and investment proposals

3. Financial & Commercial Evaluation

  • Evaluate project viability and returns for emerging energy assets
  • Analyze regulatory frameworks, tariffs, and state/central policies impacting business decisions
  • Track performance of acquired/ongoing assets and provide actionable insights

4. Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate with investment bankers, consultants, legal advisors, and internal teams
  • Prepare investment memos, IC notes, and Board presentations
  • Work closely with senior leadership on high-impact strategic projects

Eligibility Criteria :

Education

  • CA / MBA (Finance/Strategy) / CFA
  • Full-time graduation mandatory

Experience

4-5 years of relevant experience in :

  • Investment Banking (M&A / Advisory), OR Corporate M&A / Strategy roles in Energy / Infrastructure sector

Functional Competencies :

  • Commercial & Regulatory Understanding (Renewable Energy)
  • Strategic Thinking & Problem Solving

Behavioral Competencies :

Preferred Profile :

  • Prior experience in renewable energy
  • Exposure to end-to-end transaction lifecycle
  • Background from Investment Banks / Big 4 / Reputed Corporates
