The S&P Global Ratings Commercial Team manages client relationships and drives business development across the United States, with a dedicated focus on the Private Markets sector including private credit, fund finance, and financial sponsors. The team develops tailored solutions to address complex client needs and partners closely across functions to deliver commercial outcomes and support market growth.
Responsibilities and Impact
Private Markets Leadership & Team Development
Lead, coach, and develop the Private Markets Commercial team, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives, driving performance through sales metrics, and supporting team member growth and succession planning.
Collaborate with senior executives to provide commercial insights and drive strategic initiatives, supporting cross-functional collaboration and market intelligence across the Americas region.
Client Relationship Management
Build and manage relationships with key clients and prospects across Private Markets, including private credit, fund finance, and financial sponsors, delivering tailored solutions to address complex client needs.
Identify and develop upsell, cross-sell, and new business opportunities using client insights, market trends, and collaborative engagement with product and analytical teams.
Revenue & Compliance
Oversee revenue generation and market share expansion, ensuring targets are met or exceeded while maintaining compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
Develop and implement business development strategies to grow S&P Global Ratings' market position in the Private Markets sector, applying data and market analytics to support strategic decision-making.
Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates:) S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $124,000 USD to $250,000 USD. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications. What We're Looking For
Required Skills and Experience
An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 10+ years of relevant experience in consultative sales or relationship management within Private Markets, including private credit, fund finance, financial sponsors, or asset management.
Demonstrated experience managing and coaching relationship management teams, with a track record of developing team members and driving significant revenue growth.
Demonstrated understanding of Debt Capital Markets and Private Markets structures, including private credit, alternative investment funds, financial sponsors, and asset managers.
Demonstrated experience engaging with senior executives, leading commercial strategy, and managing complex client relationships in a regulated financial services environment.
Willingness and ability to travel within the United States in support of client engagement and business development activities.
Preferred or Helpful Experience
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field. An advanced degree or professional certification in a relevant area is an advantage.
Experience using data analytics and market intelligence to inform business development strategies and client engagement.
Demonstrated experience leading organizational change within a commercial or relationship management context.
Additional Information
We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in-person interview, which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer.
Employees are required to work from the office a minimum of two days per week.
