Pay Rate: $65/hr - $70/hr (CAD)

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator with 7-9 years of experience in SQL Server (on-prem & Azure) to support cloud modernization initiatives. The role focuses on managing, optimizing, and maintaining database systems across hybrid environments, with strong expertise in Azure Synapse Analytics and Azure SQL services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage, monitor, and maintain SQL Server databases (2012-2019) on Windows/Linux and Azure
• Support Azure Synapse, Azure SQL (Managed Instance, Dedicated Pool, Serverless, Data Lake)
• Perform database performance tuning, backup & recovery, and high availability (Always-On, clustering)
• Lead database installations, upgrades, patching, and migrations
• Ensure database security, encryption, and compliance
• Troubleshoot issues (deadlocks, performance, data integrity)
• Support data warehouse, analytics, and enterprise data strategy initiatives

Required Skills & Experience:

• 7-9 years SQL Server (on-prem + Azure) experience
• 5+ years with Azure Synapse Analytics
• Experience with Azure SQL, Managed Instance, Data Lake, Serverless
• Strong knowledge of performance tuning and database security
• Experience with backup/recovery, HA/DR solutions
• Certifications: AZ-900, DP-900, DP-300
• Data warehouse/OBIEE experience
• Distributed systems and middleware exposure
• Public sector experience.
